Anthony Fauci, director of the NIH, spoke on Sunday about the Omicron version COVID. But on “Face the Nation” with Margaret Brennan, he dropped all pretense and showed not only what an egomaniac and Democratic partisan he truly was when he declared that he represented science and that senators who dared to question him were attacking science.
Fauci attempted to misrepresent Sen. Ted Cruz (R. Texas) in an attempt to distract from the questions Cruz had raised regarding his actions.
Sens. Ted Cruz and Rand Paul both called for Dr. Fauci’s resignation. They also demanded that Dr. Fauci be tried and convicted in the context of COVID-19. Fauci laughs at these threats and labels it “noise.”
They are really criticizing science, because they represent science. That’s dangerous.” pic.twitter.com/zLzceD2DHe

“Yeah. I have to laugh at that,” he snorted. “I should be prosecuted? What happened on Jan. 6, Senator?”
Fauci went on to claim that the people questioning him were “really criticizing science because I represent science.” He claimed they were doing something “dangerous” because it might “damage science.”
“And if you’re attacking me, you’re really attacking science. I mean, everybody knows that,” Fauci claimed.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) ripped apart Fauci’s hubris and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) demanded that Fauci answer the question about his lying about gain-of-function research.
But they weren’t quite done with Fauci’s egomania yet. Paul, Cruz and Senator Tom Cotton (R–AR) hit Fox and exterminated Fauci even more. They also made important comments about Fauci’s tirade.
“When a government bureaucrat has the audacity and the arrogance to say they represent all of science, we should be running the other way,” Paul told host Pete Hegseth. “It conjures up images of the Medieval Church and their repression of science. Science has nothing to do with having obedience to any kind of government dogma.”
Cotton blasted the smearing of Cruz by someone who’s supposed to be a non-partisan in his position.
“It’s just another example of the incompetence of the Biden administration. They still believe Tony Fauci to be a trustworthy and impartial representative regarding the Wuhan Coronavirus. You saw this weekend, he went out and became an open partisan—attacking a sitting United States senator who is democratically elected by the people, as are the other 99 senators—as a—nothing but a bureaucrat, who works for those people who democratically elected 100 senators, attacking him in a partisan way. Tony Fauci has not changed or turned a new page. He is the same person he was right from the beginning. And it is a simple fact that he testified to Congress, by the way, that he did not fund—through his agency—gain-of-function research in the Wuhan labs, making the coronaviruses there more dangerous and more transmissible. Yet his agency has since acknowledged that they did, in fact, did fund that gain-of-function research.”
Then Cruz once again finished Fauci off for how partisan he has been, “Dr. Fauci, I think, is the most dangerous bureaucrat in the history of the country … he’s been dishonest, he’s been political, he’s been partisan, and the American people know it.”
But then he pointed out a more general problem in regard to Fauci: the failure of the media — and in this case Margaret Brennan — to hold Fauci to account for his actions.
“Instead of asking him the simple question: ‘You stated that we don’t fund gain of function research, the NIH stated. Funding for gain of function research is available. They can’t both be true. And if you lied to Congress, it’s a felony. She didn’t press him on that,” Cruz said. “And the reason this matters is there is a lot of circumstantial evidence to suggest that the U.S. government participated in funding research modifying coronaviruses that could well have led to COVID 19. And if that’s true, that is stunning and indefensible.”
That’s the greater question that they don’t want anyone to get to because they don’t want to answer it. It’s the question on which the media should be pressing Fauci and the Biden administration because the American people are owed those answers. But the media isn’t even troubled by his claims to be “science” or his raw partisan smear job effort against Cruz. They should be querying Joe Biden as to why Fauci is still employed when he acts like this (not to mention when he’s been wrong so often). Instead, the media is just savoring what Fauci says, regardless of whether or not it makes sense.
Fauci may face a reckoning if the Republicans win back Congress, and Fauci will have to finally answer.
