Patreon Bans BlazeTV Writer and a Podcast Host for Alleged ‘Hate Speech’: Report

Patreon just paid “lib service” to free speech. Patreon is reported to have banned two political commentators.

The online payments company suspended BlazeTV’s “You Are Here” host Sydney Watson and Wrong Opinion podcast host Josh Lekach, according to Reclaim The Net. Patreon is a platform that allows artists and other creators to get paid directly for content they produce. Patreon seems to have decided that commentators shouldn’t be paid.

The company reportedly banned Watson for propagating “negative stereotypes or segregational content,” according to information she reportedly told Rebel News host Andrew Chapados. “Asked Patreon why they decided to ban me. They didn’t answer,” tweetedUnverified Twitter account claiming to represent Watson. “They note here they take into consideration everything you do outside their platform. This is batsh*t. This platform can hold your money hostage if they don’t agree with what you do everywhere else. Insanity.”

Reclaim The Net reported that Watson was fired by Patreon for hate speech.

A unverified account purporting Lekach tweeted that Patreon banned him without warning mere hours after appearing on Alex Jones’s controversial InfoWars. “I’VE NEVER RECIEVED [sic]ALL WARNINGS FROM THEM. 725 PATRONS AND 4K A MONTH GONE,” Lekach said. Watson was also reported to have been censored by Patreon for his hate speech.

BlazeTV is not the only tech authority to have censored free speech. The Patreon staff amended its rules to ban pro-free-speech YouTuber Sargon that Akkad in 2018. Prominent Canadian thought leader and clinical psychologist Dr. Jordan Peterson and BlazeTV host Dave Rubin left Patreon in protest against the company’s anti-free speech actions and created their own alternatives. Rubin established Locals.com payment platform, and Peterson founded Thinkspot social network service.

Twitter also previously stripped Lekach’s account verification badge after interviewing provocative conservative then-Florida congressional primary candidate Laura Loomer. This episode specifically focused on Big Tech and its allies.
