PANIC: Soros-Led Group Backs Purchase of 18 Univision Radio Stations

The left is fed up with years of complaining about Spanish-language misinformation and seeing the Democrats lose Hispanic electoral shares to the GOP. A Soros-led group of investors has supported the purchase by 18 Univision radio stations, in a move that is clear panic. It was led by Clinton and Obama operatives.

Inside Radio reports:

Univision will be focusing more on video as a result of its merger to Mexican media giant Televisa. Univision is also reducing its radio stations. Univision has reached a 60 million-dollar all-cash agreement to buy 18 radio stations across 10 different cities. Latino Media Network, a company that was started by Stephanie Valencia and Jess Morales Rocketto as social entrepreneurs with the support of a few investors, is now the buyer.

As an example of those investors are: Axios reports:

Lakestar Finance, an investment firm affiliated to the Soros Fund Management is the one leading this investment. Eva Longoria, a Hollywood actress and entrepreneur, is also participating.

As advisers, Maria Elena Salinas (awarded Univision anchor) and Al Cardenas (ex-chair of the Florida Republican Party/American Conservative Union), will be available.

The deal profoundly recreates Univision America’s footprint with affiliates throughout Chicago, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. Univision added WADO-NY to the deal, which is the Spanish-language home for the New York Yankees. Also, WAQI-710 was included in Miami – an iconic anti-communist. Radio Mambí. It is vital that you do this because MambíThis has been an issue for the entitled left, which demands total control of media Hispanics consume.

Consider the ongoing war over censorship of conservative Spanish-language media, especially in Miami, under the guise of “disinformation”. With this move, the left doesn’t just establish a beachhead- it also seizes the opposition’s crown jewel. You can’t imagine the excitement among Hispanic progressives when this deal was made public. MambíAfter the closing of a deal, it will not be shut down or “restructured”.

But will “Radio Soros” be a commercial and political success, though? It is difficult to predict.

Univision America, the former Univision America, was launched at a time in which Hispanics trusted their media institutions. The current Democrat president was supported by more than 70% of Hispanics. This is not that time, and Joe Biden’s Hispanic support is nearly inverted in comparison to that of Barack Obama. Furthermore, “Radio Soros” can’t fill shelves with baby formula, bring gas prices down to $2/gallon, fix the border crisis or reduce crime in the cities.

In sum, the move appears to be primarily fueled by panic over Democrats’ continued loss of influence over the Hispanic vote ahead of the 2024 presidential election. This is a significant development inasmuch as it lays a marker down, but not one that is permanently transformative or even a game-changer, given the left’s current existing near-monopoly on Spanish-language media. You can’t imagine this project will wakeshame Rio Grande Valley voters into altering their voting habits, or the eventual shuttering the Cuban-American main radio station. The future will reveal what the Conservative Countermove is like and whether or not one has been made.
