Poor Hollywood stars! In order to avoid California’s union work and tax restrictions, the poor Hollywood types move their productions into unenlightened backwaters such as Georgia. It’s not something they like, but it is necessary for economic reasons. Now here comes California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) trying to guilt them into coming back home.
Newsom demanded that Hollywood boycott states where life is valued. He promised to extend tax credits to productions who “choose freedom” and come to California for filming.
Gavin Newsom’s official website announced his news.
Together with Senator Anthony Portantino (D-La Cañada Flintridge) and the California Film Commission, Governor Gavin Newsom today announced his support for SB 485, which would invest $1.65 billion in the state’s Film & Television Tax Credit Program to extend it for an additional five years, through 2030. The program provides $330 million annually in tax credits to the industry.
In Newsom’s statement Wednesday, he declared that states like Georgia and Oklahoma where people aren’t able to kill innocent children very easily are “wag[ing] a cruel assault on essential rights.” I keep forgetting that there are people who actually think that the slaughter of the unborn is an “essential right.” SMH.
Hollywood is going to see this commercial today.
It’s time to make a decision.
Protect your workers. Or continue to support hateful anti-abortion governments.
We’re here for you. We’re extending tax credits for those that come home to the Golden State.
Freedom is yours

Newsom explained that states with pro-life laws are purposefully “strip[ping reproductive freedom.” In his statement he wrote that “they are carrying out these attacks brazenly and with the intent to cause pain in the communities they target — many of whom are essential to the success of your industry.”
You can read that again.
Newsom seems to think that the state leaders who do not support abortion are the ones who are “brazenly” attacking life of women. In reality, states with pro-life laws aim to SAVE life — yes, both the life of the child and of the woman. Women are hurt by abortion, so it must be stopped. Newsom doesn’t believe it.
The tax credit would help bring more productions back into California and therefore more money into the state as well. #goals
Newsom is asking for exactly this. He desires more income and production in his state. The industry’s lefties are also attractive to him. It’s not hard to see: A leading woman who is pregnant needs leave for the pregnancy, post-birth care, as well time off to have children. This takes money and time, and can stop production. For both the woman and Hollywood, abortion is more economical and efficient. Newsom continues to eat taxes while the studio retains its star. Everyone wins.
It’s ironic that Newsom is harping so hard on the idea of “freedom.” If you recall in the last few years he’s pulled kids from schools, he’s forced everyone to suffocate themselves in masks in 100 degree heat that even King of Science Fauci said do nothing, he’s done nothing about CA’s water shortage, its astronomical crime and homelessness rate or the opioid crisis. Is that free? Does that mean CA is good to live in?
Newsom ended his statement by stating how insane he was.
Extending this program will help ensure California’s world-renowned entertainment industry continues to drive economic growth with good jobs and a diverse, inclusive workforce.
Economic growth is more likely when there are fewer baby deaths. Newsom has clear priorities.
RIP.
