Journalists and pollsters debated the potential for the State of the Union speech to be an opportunity for public opinion “bounce”. However, liberal media coverage of the speech was split between cheerleaders as well as skeptics.
Kevin Tober and Nick Fondacaro joined me for a discussion about the live coverage of Biden’s State of the Union speech. Van Jones, CNN’s anchor for the news, exclaimed “Uncle Joe’s back” but Chuck Todd and other pundits felt that it didn’t strike right. It won’t even “age well.”
Rachel Maddow slammed Gov. Kim Reynolds from Iowa is a person who clearly doesn’t have the skills to be able to compete in prime time national politics. CNN’s fact-checkers focused on Reynolds’ remarks about crime and defunding of the police. They also questioned why the Justice Department spent more time dealing with terrorist school board protesters and less on looters.
