The New York Times is eagerly awaiting the start of the Democrats’ prime-time, televised January 6 hearings, “Jan. 6 Hearings Give Democrats a Chance to Recast Midterm Message.”
Among the pathetic Democratic political tactics promoted by reporters Annie Karni and Luke Broadwater was an ice cream giveaway at a big-screen showing of the hearings. Because that’s how one marks a deadly attack on the very foundations of the republic: One scoop or two?
However, the TimesWhile Democrats cheer on their attempt to win political advantage in November, Republicans are disowned for raising objections. Every objection goes against “the truth”.
[Democrats]To generate interest we have retained an expert television executive and organised scores of watch parties throughout the country. They are now facing a swarm of Republicans bent on denial, downplaying, and obscuring the truth about what occurred in their messaging operation that was designed to discredit the inquiry.
A political party that plays politics with scandal and tragedy in 2022 is not to be questioned.
Still, some Democratic operatives believe the political payoff could be substantial, both in energizing the party’s core supporters and in appealing to independent voters who may turn against Republicans based on what they see and hear.
These are the details that were shared without any disparaging comments.
Democrats have met with networks about carrying the hearing live in prime time and have scheduled more than 90 watch events in various states, including a “flagship” event at the Robert A. Taft Memorial and Carillon Washington will host a big screen, and all attendees can get free ice-cream.
Wednesday’s front page even attacked another outlet for not following liberal media priorities. Jeremy Peters and John Koblin reported “In Prime Time, a Jan. 6 Hearing. On Fox News, the Usual Lineup.”
An investigation team of Capitol riot lawmakers would like to share as much information as they can about this shocking attack on Jan. 6. The group decided to have a public hearing at prime time on Thursday, as many are watching television.
Fox News, the nation’s top cable news channel, has other plans.
NBC will enter special reporting mode when the hearing starts at 8 p.m. Eastern. CBS will air a special called “Capitol Assault Hearings,” while ABC will run “Attack on the Capitol: The Investigation — An ABC News Special.” MSNBC and CNN will have wall-to-wall coverage all night.
Fox News won’t broadcast the hearing. Instead, the network will stick with its prime-time lineup of opinionated conservative hosts….
The Times even provided a helpful guide to watching the partisan hearings.
It was a very different tone for the Republican-led Benghazi Hearings. They were launched following the September 2012 attack which killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens.
Just before the congressional hearings begin, TimesUnder a disapproving headline: “Before Hearings On Libya Attack, Charges Of Playing Politics.”
The title of a May 2013 online symposium read “Serious Investigations, or Partisan Ploys?”
An article published in May 2014. Republicans had “opened themselves up to accusations that they are politicizing a tragedy that cost four Americans their lives and misusing congressional oversight authority for gain in an election year.”
