Democrats wanted to take advantage of the hearings held by the Jan.6 Committee to stop President Donald Trump’s re-election and to damage Republican candidates for the 2020 midterms. Their efforts have so far failed spectacularly.
As we previously noted, the first problem they have is that people have moved on and aren’t watching the show they are trying to put on. Even Democratic members of Congress were saying privately, “No one gives a bleep about Jan. 6.” More people are concerned about the things that are crushing them right now, such as inflation and gas prices. A CBS poll found that inflation was number one with 82 per cent of Americans, while Jan.6 is their least concern. So contrary to what Democrats think — the more time they spend on Jan. 6 and the more they try to push it, the more they show that they aren’t focused on the real concerns of the voters, that they’re — once again — just more concerned about their agenda and their power.
Now, there’s more polling that shows that Americans know what’s up when it comes to the Jan. 6 Committee.
54 percent of voters believe January 6 hearings are biased/partisan. This includes 58% of independents. (Harvard Caps/Harris survey).

According to the Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll, a majority of respondents believed that the Committee was biased. A poll found that 54 percent believed the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA), appointed committee was biased. Only 42 percent thought it was fair. While the split between the parties was predictable, it turned out that only 58 percent believed the committee was biased.
For Democrats, the poll is even more negative. 63% of voters believe that people should concentrate on other matters.
“Americans want an examination of the riots over the summer and the origins of the virus over investigating Jan. 6th,” said Mark Penn, the co-director of the Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey. “The voters reject the Pelosi move to toss Republicans off of the committee and see it now as just a partisan exercise.”
Another poll revealed that 67% believed hearings would further divide the country than heal it. 58% felt hearings were used to silence right-leaning voices.
The Jan. 6 Committee’s purpose was not to bring down Trump. It appears that it failed in this regard as well. Although opinions were divided on Trump, the Jan. 6 poll revealed that Trump was the most liked political figure. He was above Biden, and would prevail in a race against Harris or Biden. It was 43% to 40% for Biden and 43% to 40 for Harris. The difference was 45-39% against Harris.
The poll was taken on June 28-29, at least partially after the testimony of Cassidy Hutchinson which was not the “bombshell” the Democrats had hoped after it was contradicted by multiple other reports.
So if the Democrats thought they were getting anywhere with the American people, this poll shows that the majority of the American people understand it’s a witch-hunt. Keep trying, Democrats. Your numbers will continue to sink.
