The Devil is against abortion. The Lord is supportive of abortion.
That is the sick, twisted metaphor of MSNBC’s Tiffany Cross.
On her Cross Connection show Saturday morning, Cross condemned companies that on the one hand are offering to pay for their employees’ travel to states where abortion is legal, but on the other hand, contribute to politicians who are pro-life.
The Complained Cross
You can’t have both the Devil and Lord dancing at once.
Cross singled out AT&T, citing an Insider Article reporting on how it contributes the most to pro-life politicians from companies that also pay for employees’ abortion travel.
Cross seems to not understand that even though she would like them all to, businesses aren’t non-profit liberal-activists. They are in the business of maximising shareholder value. As AT&T was quoted in that Insider article [emphasis added]:
“No contributions were made based on an official’s abortion position. . . The employee PACs of both the parties contribute and are focused on regulations and policies. It is important to invest in broadband networks as well as hiring, developing, and keeping a skilled workforce, with competitive wages, benefits, and other services.
Did you get that? AT&T’s PACS contribute to politicians who support “policies and regulations” in line with AT&T’s business interests! AT&T also pointed out that, in fact, more of its contributions have gone to politicians supporting abortion rights than to pro-life politicians.
This doesn’t mean that you are satisfied. Cross demands that corporate donations be subject to a pro-abortion test! The Left demands Full Waking.
The guest for the segment, Sacha Thompson, founder and CEO of a “diversity-consultancy” firm, agreed “absolutely” with Cross’s dancing with the Devil, dancing with the Lord take. Thompson was also quoted in the InsiderArticle as a saying [emphasis added]:
“AT&T’s political donations are problematic. The $1.2 million donated to anti-choice legislators by politicians is not offset by donations for abortion rights.
It would actually be considered corporate malpracticeBusinesses can donate to politicians based on their liberal policies, not their opinions on issues that are important for their success.
HoweverThe leftist perspective sees no distinction in non-profit liberal advocacy organisations and for-profit business. Each must do their part to promote the liberal cause.
Tiffany Cross said on MSNBC that she couldn’t “dance with the Devil or the Lord simultaneously” when condemning companies who support pro-life politicians and pay employees to travel to abortion. The MSNBC segment was sponsored partly by ASPCA.

10:18 am EDTTIFFANY CROOSS: While the country grapples with Roe V. Wade’s consequences, some businesses are showing signs of support. AT&T, Disney, Microsoft, and Amazon are all among those who have publicly pledged to cover their employees’ travel expenses so that they can access abortions uninhibited.
All four companies donated money to support state abortion bans. These laws will force such travel. This information is based on reporting from Bloomberg and Insider, though NBC has yet to independently verify it.
But according to Insider, AT&T actually tops this list, with more than $1 million to anti-abortion lawmakers behind trigger laws in 13 states.
Now we reached out to each of the four companies. Microsoft did not respond to our inquiry, but it gave a statement saying that they would continue to comply with the law and support their employees’ access to critical care. Microsoft didn’t respond to our inquiry about the contributions of anti-abortion laws makers.
Sacha Thompson (CEO and co-founder of The Equity Equation) will be joining me. Sacha, it’s a pleasure to be here. I really want to get into this, because AT&T plans to continue provide financial support for employees who have to travel. We just stated that they are part of the largest publicly traded corporate investor in politicians who support these laws. This being said, I am curious about the role of the private sector in creating such a landscape and their responsibility for fixing it. BecauseIt is impossible to dance with both the Devil & the Lord simultaneously.
SACHA THOMPSON Absolutely. Tiffany, thanks so much for your time. This is something that has really come to prominence in the past few years. Companies weren’t making such statements prior to 2020 (sorry! 2022). So they feel the need to speak up. They need to speak up. This is a new part. It isn’t. This has been happening for years. It seems that clients, employees, and customers are demanding more transparency. We are beginning to see that both sides of the coin are being played. Okay, we’re beginning to see. Wait a moment, it’s impossible to say one thing and do another. So, this reconciliation is now taking place within corporate offices.
