Morning Joe Welcomes DNC Chair Calling Tom Cotton ‘Little Maggot-Infested Man’

Morning Joe conducted a shamefully soft interview of DNC Chairman Jaime Harrison on Wednesday morning.

For starters, how do you interview the head of a party as disastrously down in NBC’s own polls as are the Dems, facing potential obliteration in November, and never mention that grim reality?

Somehow the word “poll” never crossed Joe or Mika’s lips, nor did anything about the party’s dire straits. Scarborough asked Scarborough, the DNC chair: “What’s my story?” They let Harrison wax on for two and a half minutes about Biden’s supposed accomplishments.

It was an embarrassing end. After Scarborough and Harrison castigated Tom Cotton for his criticism of Biden SCOTUS nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson’s defense of Guantanamo terrorist suspects, Mika asked Harrison what he thought of Cotton. His answer:

HARRISON – In a Senate with Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham Tom Cotton is at the bottom of the low. It’s interesting to note that Barack Obama appointed a diplomat to the Bahamas a few years back. Cassandra Butts, a close friend of Obama’s. Cassandra was a Capitol Hill worker. She was a familiar face to us all. She was brilliant. Cassandra had leukemia. Tom cotton prevented her from being confirmed. She waited 835 days to be confirmed Ambassador to the Bahamas. When asked about why she was holding back, he replied that he didn’t want to cause any harm to Barack Obama. 

You can see who it is. The little maggot-infested guy is. That pen is not his. He is not worthy to represent the Arkansas people in the United States Senate. He does not deserve it and doesn’t even know. Joe hit the nail right on his head. Joe put his hand to the Bible and signed an oath of allegiance to the Constitution. 

Cotton’s spokesperson denied that he claimed he held up the Butts Nomination to cause pain on Obama. And even liberal New York TimesFrank Bruni, columnist for the Times, has admitted that Cotton was effected by a legitimate complaint that led to him denying Butts’ nomination. Also, Butts was apparently unaware of her leukemia until very shortly before her death–not at the time Cotton put his hold on her nomination.

Harrison continued his diatribe: “That’s it!” The Republican Party that we now see. It’s a party built upon fraud, fear, fascism. These people don’t belong in power.”

Instead of confronting Harrison over his horrible depiction Cotton, Mika said a “yeah!” during Harrison’s diatribe and closed the segment with a thank you to Harrison:Many thanks!Thanks for joining us this morning Talk about today’s political state.“

Scarborough was at a commercial break when Scarborough returned. He said that Scarborough understood “certainly the passion of it”, but then added, “I believed he meant MAGA-infested Man, but it wasn’t harsher than that.” Willie Geist explained this wasn’t a sudden outburst: “He was echoing a tweet he wrote last night about Tom Cotton.” He stated that Cotton’s heart was infested with maggots.
