This Sunday night, a bit of news: Mitt Romney does Mitt Romney again.
The “severely conservative” senator from Utah decided to take to social media and trash Tulsi Gabbard. But he didn’t just disagree with her viewpoint. Instead, he accused her actually of Treason.

Tulsi Gabrield lies to the Russians. It could cost her lives to tell treasonous lies.

Given the timing of Romney’s outburst, it can only be in relation to one Gabbard comment because she’s only posted one thing in the last two days. Here’s what she had to say.
There are 25+ US-funded biolabs in Ukraine which if breached would release & spread deadly pathogens to US/world. It is imperative that we act immediately to avoid disaster. US/Russia/Ukraine/NATO/UN/EU must implement a ceasefire now around these labs until they’re secured & pathogens destroyed pic.twitter.com/dhDTH5smIG

For the life of me, I can’t figure out why establishment figures are so triggered by the mention of the bio-labs in Ukraine. They do exist. As part of the 2005 agreement to control and manage hazardous material at labs, the United States has helped finance them. Gabbard does not make any further statements about bio-weapons or the like. Gabbard only mentions the danger of deadly pathogens being unleashed, and this is true for the present risks.
Why is Romney so freaked out? Is it really so difficult to say “Yeah, the labs are there, but there’s nothing nefarious going on?” Instead, figures like the Utah senator and various “fact-checkers” rush to scream “Russia propaganda” while claiming it’s misinformation to even acknowledge their existence. It is also the Pentagon warning Russia about possible capture of one lab lab, and launching an attack using its contents.
You can square this circle.
.@CBSDavidMartin says that a Pentagon official he talked to this morning said there is no movement of chemical weapons into Ukraine, but the concern is that Russia may move to seize a biomedical research facility, weaponize a pathogen, then blame it on Ukraine & the U.S. pic.twitter.com/lKAxxCGgmv

Regardless, my big issue here isn’t who’s right or wrong on the merits. Rather, it’s the ridiculous use of the word “treason” by Romney. Although I can see that this man is a neocon and a hypocrite, the concept of treason cannot be considered as such. The United States of America isn’t at war with Russia. Gabbard’s misguided views aside, Gabbard isn’t offering comfort and aid to any enemy country, which is a legal standard far beyond free speech. Joe Biden currently works with Russia to find an Iran agreement. Is Biden now guilty of treason in Romney’s eyes?
Out of all the things that are dangerous in regards to what’s going on with Russia right now, Tulsi Gabbard saying something on Twitter doesn’t even register. Romney is a true screamer, and he chose to attack everyone except those most responsible for the crisis. Romney chooses carefully his words when it comes down to Biden. He almost never names the president. Gabbard or any Republican? He comes out guns-blazing. That’s not a coincidence.
Without being ridiculous, you can agree with others. Romney’s comments are hysterical and dumb. It’s ridiculous. some peopleThis guy may be the most qualified Republican nominee for 2024. The fact that he made a negative comment about Russia in 2012 makes him even more stupid. Romney is an establishment neocon who flip-flops and will not be accepted again by the wider Republican Party.
