Michigan Democrats Declare War on Public School Parents – Opinion

Michigan Democrats sometimes do their best imitation of Michigan Republicans, making it a lot more fun for those who aren’t from the state. In fact, this time the donkeys may have been better than their elephant colleagues.

Finally.

On Saturday, the Michigan Democratic Party thought that it was a great idea to make a mockery of parents who have children in public schools. The post basically said that tax-paying parents should let the state tell their children what they need to learn.

Not sure where this ‘parents-should-control-what-is-taught-in-schools-because-they-are-our-kids’ is originating, but parents do have the option to send their kids to a hand-selected private school at their own expense if this is what they desire.

A public education at a school in the public sector is not intended to teach children only what they want to learn. This is their society’s education. Public schools serve not only the parents, but also the whole community.

Isn’t that just a heartwarming post? This post makes it easy to feel good about the amount of money (parents from public school) that goes into public education every year. The really amazing part of this post to me is that it was posted on the day that Glenn Youngkin was sworn in as Virginia’s new Governor. You remember that guy, he rode the wave of parents ticked off about being told to keep quiet about what their kids’ li’l minds full of mush were being taught in class. Bonchie, my co-author covered the story here. Glenn Youngkin and company start things off with Going Scorched Earth Virginia.

This was a great move by them.

As you can imagine, the Michigan GOP was thrilled to take advantage of a goof that they were amazed they didn’t make.

Starting at Fox News

“Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Democrat Party continue to be in the pockets of teachers unions and are so out of touch with Michiganders, they believe parents shouldn’t be involved in their children’s education,” Michigan GOP communications director Gustavo Portela told Fox News Digital in a Monday statement.

“Studies have shown time and time again that parent involvement leads to student success,” Portela continued. “Parent involvement is exactly what our students need now more than ever after a year of learning loss that will impact them for years to come thanks to Gretchen Whitmer’s shutdowns.”

Michigan Democrats decided to remove this line and provided a weak explanation.

Although you might think this half-hearted apology and deleted post is too much, it would be a mistake to not give enough credit the people of my state. Michigan’s blue state is purple when there is a blue lunar eclipse right after the red and then the wolf moons.

It is rare that we wear purple,

Governor Whitmer will be running for reelection in the latter part of this year. A new poll was conducted last week by The Detroit NewsIt was found that 56% of people approve of her work as governor.

Michigan governor. Gretchen Whitmer’s job approval rating has climbed to begin 2022, but Republicans have opportunities against the Democrat who is seeking a second term, according to a new poll commissioned by The Detroit News and WDIV.

A Jan. 3–7 poll of 600 potential general election voters revealed a highly competitive political climate, with more people saying that the state is on the wrong path than right. Only 40% indicated they would vote for Whitmer again in an important midterm election. However, her approval rating has risen to 56%.

“I’d much rather be Gretchen Whitmer right now than any of the Republican candidates,” said Richard Czuba, founder of the Lansing-based Glengariff Group, which conducted the poll.

While the GOP may not yet have a clear front runner, it is amazing that 56% of Americans who are breathing oxygen think that she does an acceptable job. This is why, apart from the once-in a lifetime election, I believe that the Great Lakes State has always been blue.

As in 2016, with Donald Trump.

What if the Michigan Democrats made mistakes and told parents to put it down? Maybe they could tilt the balance towards the MiGOP, making it more competitive in November.

Maybe.
