Merrick Garland Plays Chicken, Trump Responds by Slamming on the Accelerator – Opinion

My colleague Nick Arama reported on Attorney General Merrick Garland taking responsibility for authorizing the raid on former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home. Arama rightly remarked that it was a sham. Garland wouldn’t disclose details about the warrant and the reasons behind the raid.

“The search warrant was authorized by a federal court upon the required finding of probable cause. Federal law demands that property owners receive the property receipt. The department filed the motion to make public the warrant and receipt in light of the former president’s public confirmation of the search, the surrounding circumstances, and the substantial public interest in this matter.

It is unclear what Garland thought the move would achieve, but 45 did just that in Trump style.

You should be careful about what you want for Mr. AG.

Not only will I not oppose the release of documents related to the unAmerican, unwarranted, and unnecessary raid and break-in of my home in Palm Beach, Florida, Mar-a-Lago, I am going a step further by ENCOURAGING the immediate release of those documents, even though they have been drawn up by radical left Democrats and possible future political opponents, who have a strong and powerful vested interest in attacking me, much as they have done for the last 6 years…

I believe in chess, this is called, “Check.” When the details of the warrant are revealed, it may be “Checkmate” fairly soon.

Before Garland’s presser on Thursday, lo and behold, The Washington PostA report revealing that the FBI wanted nuclear documents was released by an exclusive source

“deep concern among government officials about the types of information they thought could be located at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club and potentially in danger of falling into the wrong hands.

“The people who described some of the material that agents were seeking spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation. The agents did not provide any additional information about the type of information they were looking for, such as whether the material was related to weapons from the United States or another nation. The search team did not provide any information about the documents that were found. Trump spokesmen did not reply to our request for comment. The Justice Department and FBI declined to comment.”

Here we go with more “Schiff Show” nonsense. We have damning evidence, but it’s an ongoing investigation, so we just can’t reveal it. But we will in time…

Uh-huh.

This sounds familiar, as Joe Cunningham, our senior editor, points out.

The media and FBI both have performed remarkable jobs of devaluing themselves over the course of the past six-years, let’s be real. The American public distrusts both institutions, which is understandable. FBI pursued a fake dossier that included agents that admitted to biases and plans against Trump. The media has spent the last six years breathlessly telling us the “walls are closing in” after each and every news tidbit came out — and many of those were just as fake as the dossier.

That’s the truth. Americans are tired of the endless, never ending, witch-hunting merry-go round. It is also known that government officials have taken good people into their ranks, leaving them to rot in gulags without the right of due process.

Garland and FBI are both for it. Boys, wave goodbye to this ship.

Garland tried to be a chicken and moved to declassify the warrant, likely expecting Trump to balk. Trump demanded that the warrant be classified in its entirety. You will get a steer or crash.

Perhaps both.

Trump is a brawler, and as we have seen over the past six years, he doesn’t back down. Garland is a wimp and has shown himself to be a weakling. This is why he plays what appears like revenge fantasies at the Department of Justice, rather than sitting on The Supreme Court.
