Marvel Releases New Pride-Themed Poster To Celebrate LGBT ‘Voices’

It’s official folks. Marvel is homosexual.

In honor of pride month, which will, unfortunately, be upon us in just over three weeks, Marvel just announced that it will have a pride-themed edition of the acclaimed Marvel’s Voices podcast (created by Angélique Roché in 2018) that will attempt to highlight the voices of LGTBQIA+ artists and creators and the impact of several gay superheroes in the Marvel universe.

It even has a poster!

Three gay super-heroes are featured on the poster: Northstar, a mutant speeder and Angela, a divine warrior, as well America Chavez. America Chavez was the final of the three, who played an important part in Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness. The poster will be available for purchase starting June 22nd.

This is not the first sign that Marvel has jumped on to the wake bandwagon.

Marvel released Deadpool in 2016, where its protagonist, named after him, was pansexual. In Endgame (released in 2019), an openly gay man participated in a therapy session held by Captain America along with several other survivors of Thanos’ “snap.” And in the newest Doctor Strange movie, we see America Chavez relive a memory where she was with her two moms. Chavez wears a LGBT-themed pin to her jeans jacket all through the film. That’s not even accounting for the Black Panther film, where several characters had lines that painted certain white characters as inherently racist because of their skin color.

It is truly disappointing that Marvel, a company that genuinely brought fans some of the most well-produced, intricately developed, visually pleasing, and genuinely inspiring superhero stories of the past 20 years is now selling out for this harmful ideology to cater to a small portion of America’s population. While there is some hope their business will not be affected by this initiative, it’s possible that they could lose customers (as happened with Disney) but time will only tell.
