Manchin Triggers Todd by Refusing to Say if He Wants Dems to Keep Congress

Because Senator Joe Manchin, D-WV, doesn’t agree with the Democrat Party’s radical agenda, he is a frequent target of leftist media. Because he has some reason and isn’t totally lost, he doesn’t qualify as a genuine Democrat. This exchange took place Sunday. Meet the PressManchin and his party are certain to be inflamed.

Manchin interviewed me during an interview. Meet the PressChuck Todd, anchor tried to get Manchin on-board about his party’s chances in the midterms. Unexpectedly, the conversation took a surprising turn. “What’s your case for Democrats to keep control of the House and the Senate this election year?” Todd was curious.

Manchin responded “I don’t know, it’s just if you look back through history it makes it very difficult, especially in the most toxic times we have ever seen. So it’s up in the air right now.”

Todd swiftly cut off Senator And asked if “hope” was his answer.[s]Democrats maintain control over the Senate and House of Representatives?” Manchin stopped, moved in an awkward way, and then said:

Chuck, I believe people have had enough of politics. Yes, I do. They’re tired of Republicans and Democrats fighting over pieces of legislation and feuding. We should do something to help our country. We can just declare that this is good news for America. Good government is the best form of politics, as I have always believed. Chuck, do something positive. It’s impossible to know what will happen.

Todd, clearly upset and frustrated, said “I don’t ask you to forecast…What outcome do you desire?” Are you adamant that the Democrats will retain control of both the Senate and House of Representatives in the United States?

Manchin stated that he wasn’t taking the lure and said that he “is not making those decisions or choices on this.” “I’m willing to use what I have.” “I’ve always stated that.” He stated that he thought “that.”[s]The Democrats are able to field great candidates, and they have good people like me. I also have an immense amount of respect for and friendship with my Republican counterparts. This allows me to work with both sides very well.”

What does it matter what year’s outcome? What about the elections? Todd exasperated.

“Well, whatever the voters choose, I can’t decide what’s going to happen in Kansas or California or Texas,” Manchin replied. “I always took the approach of whoever sent me that, that was your representative. And I also respect the state and its citizens. So I try my best to cooperate with them to make the country the best it can be. That’s not how I play politics. It’s not how I like it. It’s not who you are.”

Allstate and Verizon made it possible for Chuck Todd to press Manchin to tell him he wanted Democrats to retain control of Congress. They are linked.

CHUCK TODD: What’s your case for Democrats to keep control of the House and the Senate this election year?

SENATOR JOE MANCHIN: I don’t know, it’s just if you look back through history it makes it very difficult, especially in the most toxic times we have ever seen. So it’s up in the air right now—

[crosstalk]

TODD: What do you think?

MANCHIN, Chuck: It seems like people are tired of politics. Yes, I do. They’re tired of Republicans and Democrats fighting over pieces of legislation and being feuding. We should do something to help our country. We can just declare that this is good news for America. Good government is the best form of politics, as I have always believed. Chuck, do something positive. It’s impossible to know what will happen.

TODD: You are not expected to make predictions.

MANCHIN, I would like to do something positive.

TODD: Do you want a certain result? Are you happy for the Democrats to retain control of both the Senate and House of Representatives in the United States?

MANCHIN : It would be a pleasure — but I don’t make those decisions. I will work with what I have. This is what I’ve said all my life. My Democratic colleagues have many great people in their running and I feel that the Democrats have great candidates. It is easy for me to switch sides.

TODD: Do you care about the outcome?

[crosstalk]

TODD, You aren’t concerned about the result this year. Are you interested in the results of this year’s elections?

MANCHIN: Well, whatever the voters — whatever the voters choose, I can’t decide what’s going to happen in Kansas or California or Texas. You can’t. Since childhood, I have always believed that whoever you sent me is your representative. I also respect their state and the individuals they send. I do my best to cooperate with them to make my country the best it can be. That’s not how I play politics. That’s just not how I feel about it. It’s not me.
