Rep. Liz Cheney, RINO-WY was so obsessed with going after Donald Trump that she offered herself as a member of the Democratic Jan. 6 Committee. She said the quiet part out loud at the beginning of the month, saying the “single most important thing” was to ensure that Trump wasn’t the Republican nominee. It could not be simpler.
Cheney appeared to believe that it would elevate her political standing. There was even delusional talk that she was thinking about running for president in 2024 and that she wasn’t “ruling anything out.” As though anyone would want her. What is the problem? Her constituency is not there. Democrats will vote for Democrats, they don’t care about her, they’re only using her for their ends. Republicans won’t vote for her because she’s not only attacked Trump, she’s attacked the Republican Party and thrown in with the Democrats. Who do you think would vote for her? Is she really trustworthy?
However, her seat in Wyoming is at risk of being retaliated against by karma.
Harriet Hageman, the candidate endorsed by Trump who is running in the GOP primary against Cheney, won a GOP straw poll for the seat over the weekend. And it wasn’t even close.
Harriet Hageman was victorious with 59 votes, while Cheney received just six votes. What a disappointing showing. The other candidates received three votes. It was a total of three votes from 74 Committee Members. While the party can’t endorse before the primary, that’s a good indication of how much trouble Cheney is in and how likely she is to get pummeled in the primary.
It probably didn’t help when, like her father, she leveled friendly fire at another Wyoming GOP member.

After Cheney voted to impeach Donald Trump, the Committee rejected Cheney. It voted last November 31-29 not to recognize Cheney as a member of the Republican Congresswoman.
Cheney’s spokesperson gave a huffy response over the results of the straw poll, “The only elections that matter are in August and November.”
That’s true, but it also matters when you throw your party and your principles under the bus. It also matters when you’re not listening to what your constituents are saying. If you pretend to be “protecting democracy” but throw in with the Democrats who are trying to drag us to the left, it means either you don’t understand what’s going on or you don’t care. Either way, you’re not paying attention to what the people of Wyoming want and you’re going to get the big boot come November.
But no worries for her — we can already predict her future employment, just like we can predict that of the outgoing Kinzinger — no future political position of any worth, but being a useless talking head on CNN or MSNBC — the one representing the “Republican” side, so you know how accurate that will be.
