Sen. Lindsey Graham slammed progressive congresswomen during a Monday morning appearance on “Fox & Friends,” defending controversial remarks President Donald Trump made about the Democrats over the weekend.
Graham, a South Carolina Republican, singled out Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for criticism. But he appeared to have in mind the New York Democrat’s entire faction of left-wing freshmen, which includes Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ayanna Presley of Massachussetts.
“We all know that [Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez] and this crowd are a bunch of communists, they hate Israel, they hate our own country, they’re calling the guards along our border – the Border Patrol agents – concentration camp guards,” Graham said. “They accuse people who support Israel as doing it for the benjamins, they are anti-Semitic, they are anti-America. Don’t get them – aim higher.”

However, the South Carolina lawmaker also advised Trump to focus his criticism on the lawmakers’ policy proposals, which he called “disgusting.”
“They’re socialists. They’re anti-Semitic,” Graham said. “They stand for all the things that most Americans disagree with. Make them the face of the future of the Democratic Party. You will destroy the Democratic Party.”
Lindsey Graham defends controversial Trump tweets
On Sunday, Trump ignited a media firestorm when he slammed Ocasio-Cortez and company in a series of nativism tweets for allegedly not appreciating the United States.

“So interesting to see ‘Progressive’ Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run,” Trump said.
“Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came,” he continued. “Then come back and show us how it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!”

Critics accused Trump of targeting the “women of color” with racist and xenophobic language. Three of the four women were born in the United States.
Ocasio-Cortez responded to Trump’s remarks Monday morning on Twitter, accusing him of using the “language of white supremacists.”
“It’s important to note that the President’s words today, telling four American Congresswomen of color ‘go back to your own country,’ is hallmark language of white supremacists,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “Trump feels comfortable leading the GOP into outright racism, and that should concern all Americans.”

But the president remained defiant in the face of his detractors.
“When will the Radical Left Congresswomen apologize to our Country, the people of Israel and even to the Office of the President, for the foul language they have used, and the terrible things they have said,” Trump tweeted hours earlier.
When will the Radical Left Congresswomen apologize to our Country, the people of Israel and even to the Office of the President, for the foul language they have used, and the terrible things they have said. So many people are angry at them & their horrible & disgusting actions!
