ABC talk show host and alleged comedian Jimmy Kimmel tried his hand at Supreme Court analysis on him Monday show, but failed miserably as he accused Republicans of treating Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation hearings as a “subtle racism jamboree” and the declared the prospect of a part-line vote to be the party’s “ultimate nightmare.”
As part of his opening monologue, Kimmel tried to explain that, “In Washington, they’re holding a confirmation hearing for Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nominee. Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee today. Unless something unexpected happens, the vote is expected to go along party lines. These hearings, they give a number of our Republican senators a chance to compete in one of their favorite events, the Subtle Racism Jamboree.”
Kimmel was then unable to grasp the irony in laughing at South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham because he predicted such attacks. Introducing a clip of Graham, Kimmel declared, “He said he expects to be called racist at these hearings and made an interesting comparison when invoking the heated confirmation hearing of Justice Brett Kavanaugh.”
After playing a clip of Graham declaring that, “There were headlines all over the country really accusing Judge Kavanaugh of being basically Bill Cosby. None of us are going to do that to you. And if any of us does that to you, all hell will break out, and it should,” Kimmel returned to take shots at Kavanaugh.
Not being careful what we wished for, Kimmel retorted, “Ummm, thanks? It’s possible. However, I disagree. I actually think they should treat Ketanji Brown Jackson exactly like they treated Brett Kavanaugh, and interview every single person who’s has accused her of sexual assault. Don’t stop, even though there are none.”
Wrapping up his thoughts on Jackson, Kimmel declared that, “She could get confirmed without a single, she doesn’t need any Republican votes to get confirmed because the vice president is the tie breaker. Which would be, that would be the GOP’s ultimate nightmare having this decided by two black women whose names they can’t pronounce.”
Somebody certainly seems to be obsessed with race, but it sure isn’t Senate Republicans.

Senator Ted Cruz was actually Judge Jackson’s classmate at Harvard Law School. Though she will not likely get his vote. He pontificated at length today about not turning this into a political circus, and worked a plug for his podcast in while saying that.
