The mass shooting at Highland Park in Illinois has now claimed the lives of seven victims. At most 38 others were hurt during the attack.
Katherine Goldstein, 64 of Highland Park and Irina McCarthy 35 of Highland Park were the deceased. Kevin McCarthy 37, 37, Jacquelyn McCarthy, 63 of Highland Park and Stephen Straus 88 of Highland Park were also among those who died. Nicolas Toledo-Zaragoza 78 of Morelos was also killed. Officials are yet to release the identity of the seventh victim.
According to police, Richard Crimo III was dressed up as a woman in order to conceal his tattoos and flee the scene.

Although police have yet to identify the motive, they suspect it was premeditated and that the shooter had planned it for several weeks.
Kamala Harris visited Highland Park unannounced, one day after the shooting. But she immediately used the occasion to go political and rail against “assault weapons.” Does she even know what “assault weapons” are? Or is that like the definition of what is a woman — where it’s whatever they say it is, depending on the present narrative? Harris then served up another word salad about taking “this stuff seriously.”
Kamala Harris was the Vice President at the Highland Park Mass Shooting.
“We have to take this stuff seriously, as seriously as you are because you have been forced to take this seriously,” she said. pic.twitter.com/vpLSydpJM0

“We’ve got to be smarter as a country in terms of who has access to what — and in particular assault weapons,” Harris said. “We have to take this stuff seriously, as seriously as you are, because you have been forced to take it seriously. This can happen in any peaceful community, anywhere. It should be understood by the entire nation. And we should stand together and speak out about why it’s got to stop.”
This was her public comment. I think she wanted people to think they were taking this “seriously.” She said it enough times. But I can’t imagine that was particularly inspiring. Let’s hope she said things to the first responders she was supposed to meet with that were better than that — because that was seriously lacking. If this was supposed to show empathy and warmth, this wasn’t it. We’ll at least note that they showed up here, as opposed to Waukesha, Wisconsin, after the Christmas parade attack. That sounds like a hollow platitude.
One thing I’ve noticed is that even the left is throwing her under the bus on Twitter now with remarks like this; it’s not just folks on the right talking about her word salads in reaction to this. The left had a lot of responses and said they were not patient with Harris’ incoherence. They felt like she hadn’t even taken the time to get it right or appear to care; she just spouted nonsense.

The notecard said “Take this seriously and show empathy”, and she thought this was the most human impression she could make. https://t.co/bTebYvCo8m

Unfortunately, both she and Joe Biden have similar problems, and they don’t seem to be getting any better.
