Joy Reid Says World Only Cares About Ukraine Because It’s ‘White and Largely Christian’ – Opinion

Just. Like. Clockwork.

If there’s Everything on Earth  MSNBC host Joy Reid can’t connect to Something “white” and/or “Christian” — and therefore race-related, or worse — with two dots or less, I have yet to see it.

Every issue or event Reid covers is filtered through her race-baiting lens, so Vladimir Putin’s brutal invasion of Ukraine provides yet another opportunity for the left-wing host to further sow seeds of racial division.

As reported by NewsBusters, Reid used the last segment of Monday night’s “The ReidOut” to exploit the war in Ukraine as a platform from which to launch into yet another iteration of her worn-out narrative: “Racial disparity” in how “Western media” portrays suffering Ukrainians as more “human,” as contrasted with their “browner and blacker counterparts” embroiled in other conflicts around the world.

It’s all downhill from here:

As Reid sees it, the United States and European nations only care about Ukraine because the population is “white and largely Christian.” By contrast, in Reid’s race-obsessed mind, the world doesn’t give a damn about conflicts in “the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.”

NewsBusters has transcribed the following:

It has been shown that Ukraine’s coverage shows a stark contrast in how Ukrainians feel and look to Western media, compared with their darker and more sexy counterparts.

Now what we’re seeing in Ukraine is absolutely the worst humanitarian crisis that Europe has seen in decades, but we haven’t witnessed the same type of solidarity for the Yeminies as we do for the Ukrainians. We don’t see historic sanctions, or global campaigns […]

And this is not to say we shouldn’t care this much for Ukraine. It’s far from true. We should care as much as possible for those fleeing war and occupation in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

Reporters have used very interesting comparisons to show how Ukrainians feel about Western media.

Reid specifically was referring to Yemen’s ongoing war.

As the world watches the devastation unfold in Ukraine, nearly 4,000 miles away, another crisis is deepening that we don’t hear much about in the U.S., and that is the war in Yemen.

While Reid argued that the Yemeni people haven’t seen the same support and solidarity as the people of Ukraine, she conveniently “forgot” to mention China’s ongoing genocide against the minority, mostly Muslim, autonomous Uyghurs — and Marriott recently siding with the ChiComs.

So here’s my question — so far. Do you think it’s appropriate to play What AboutismWith all the violence against the Ukrainian population? Are Reid doing just what she has always done, full-metal-jacket-race-bating? Is Reid simply observing?

Joy Reid was Joy Reid and asked a question about racially charged set-ups. She promptly answered it, as she did so predictably.

Let’s face it, the world is paying attention because this is happening in Europe. We would see the same support and compassion if this were happening elsewhere.

And… may I have the envelope?

We don’t need to ask ourselves if the international response would be the same if Russia unleashed their horror on a country that wasn’t White and largely Christian, because Russia has already done it. Syria.

Russia sent troops to Syria in January 2020 in order to assist the government forces in capturing a strategically important town that was held by rebels.

The question that I asked earlier was:

Did Reid just race-bait, like she does every time, or was her observation valid?

Maybe the answer is “both.” If we were talking about anyone other than Joy Reid, that is. Take a look at the following:

Joy Reid Show Laughs at the Blatant Lying About Officer Brian Sicknick’s Death

Joy Reid Ridiculously Claims Gun Laws are Based on White Supremacy

Bottom line:

Joy Reid, who in February laughingly claimed she was “part of a journalistic outfit” wouldn’t recognize journalism if it dragged her out behind the woodshed and kicked the crap out of her for kicking the crap out of it.

For that reason — and call me a cynic (or whatever else tickles your fancy) — I’m gonna go out on a (steady) limb and guess Joy Reid cares more about having Ukraine to exploitMore about the suffering of the Ukrainian people. I hope I’m wrong.
