Josh Hawley Responds Accordingly After Becerra Hints HHS Might Violate Federal Law Over Abortion Ruling – Opinion

For the last 18 months or so since the Capitol riot, Republicans have been treated to a chorus of hypocritical lectures from Democrats, their NeverTrump allies, and the mainstream media about how it is unconscionable and un-American to “disrespect our sacred institutions” and “undermine our democracy” by doing things Democrats have done in the past like question election results.

Not surprisingly, those “rules” magically fly right out the window when these same Democrats are hit with election results they don’t like or a judicial ruling on which they don’t agree, something we’ve seen play out on a national level in a dangerous way since the Friday Supreme Court ruling where a majority of Justices agreed that Roe V. WadeIt must be reversed.

For starters, we had Biden DOJ Attorney General Merrick Garland pledge in so many words to try and do a Biden-approved end-run around the SCOTUS ruling, proclaiming that the “Justice Department will use every tool at our disposal to protect reproductive freedom,” his statement read. “And we will not waver from this Department’s founding responsibility to protect the civil rights of all Americans.”

Even more troubling were the comments made by Health and Human Services Sec. Xavier Becerra made during a Saturday interview at the Aspen Ideas: Health festival when asked by NBC News “reporter” Kate Snow what he was doing “concretely” to try to “help women” in response to the court’s ruling. Becerra said that his agency was looking into options to transport any women who want an abortion from one state in the other.

When Snow asked if it was “legal” for his department to do so, Becerra began laughing and playing a cat and mouse game, “joking” about how he couldn’t say much more because he was being filmed.

Watch:

With the fact that federal funding of abortion-related services is prohibited by the Hyde Amendment, except for cases of rape or incest and the health of the mother (Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo. responded accordingly to Becerra’s remarks:

Rep. Dan Bishop, R-N.C. pointed out complete with receipts that Becerra’s abortion radicalism was the exact reason he and other Republicans opposed his nomination in the first place:

The next move should be for Becerra to be hauled before a Senate committee to further expand on his comments, preferably as the cameras roll since he didn’t seem too keen on being filmed on the issue Saturday. After all, if a cabinet Secretary in Joe Biden’s administration is orchestrating a violation of federal law behind the scenes, the American people deserve to know about it.
