Washington continues to be polarized by the Uvalde school shooting, Texas, which triggered a debate. Both sides are trying to reach a compromise to prevent further tragedies.
On Tuesday, however, the White House decided to eliminate the single best method to end mass shootings at schools. According to Press Sec. Karine Jean-Pierre, Joe Biden does not “believe” in “hardening” schools, which represents the most common-sense, directly impactful measure that could be taken.

Leftists have mocked since Uvalde’s shooting that SROs are necessary on campus campuses to keep active shooter situations at bay. This is absurd considering the shooter spent 12 minutes walking around school before finding a backdoor that was unlocked. He was not confronted at any point.
It would have been almost impossible to prevent the horrendous murders.
Biden refuses to even consider doing what could have saved those lives, opting instead to advocate policies that have no immediate impact. Why?
For my part, I’m done giving the benefit of the doubt on this subject. We’ve got probable solutions to school shootings punching us in the face, and they are attainable and largely affordable in the grand scheme of things. Yet, Democrats like Biden are rambling about background checks–even though the shooter passed a background check–while fantasizing about banning 9mm ammunition.
At this stage, such policy mismanagement can only be described maliciously and potentially dangerous. No, I’m not suggesting Biden wants to see kids killed. I’m not a Democrat, so I don’t accuse my political opponents of such. What I am suggesting is that he and the rest of his party see gun control as a preeminent policy goal, to the point where they are refusing to do what works in favor of getting what they want, even if it doesn’t actually help the situation.
Lastly, it’s worth mentioning that Republicans are actually negotiating around increased security for schools in the Senate right now. The White House is rushing to destroy the only area where there could be a reasonable compromise. Again, I think it’s all about politics, and it’s grotesque to witness a man like Biden, so focused on his political wants, refusing to consider measures that could actually save lives.
