Joe Biden and Democrats Stare Into the Abyss After Latest Poll Drops – Opinion

While pro-life individuals are celebrating a massive victory following the Supreme Court’s decision to overrule Roe V. WadeDemocrats are currently coping with their grief and have been for the most part sabotaging themselves.

The radical left’s attempt to self-medicate by telling themselves the issue of abortion will win them the election in November is one way. As the story goes, masses of voters will suddenly change sides, ignoring everything actually affecting their lives, in order to vote for Joe Biden’s party.

Sunday’s polling drop paints a different picture, though. Naturally, the president’s approval remains in the dumps. In the CBS News poll, he reached a new level of disapproval

The 40 percent approval of Biden is actually more than many polls. However, it’s always a good idea to check the history and compare any poll to previous versions to get a better understanding of trends. CBS News/YouGov have been consistent in their support of the president during the past year. It is notable that he dropped to such a low level even in a friend survey. If Democrats were hoping for a late-game rebound, that’s nowhere to be found.

But it’s the breakdown of the issues that Americans care about that offers the most instruction. While Democrats hope to make abortion their biggest wedge issue for the mid-terms, it simply doesn’t register outside of diehards who made up their minds long ago.

What happens when a side runs on an issue 82% of people consider a top issue and the opposing side on an issue only 42% regard as a top issue? Every time, the former wins. Worse, for Democrats, some percentage of that 42 percent saying abortion is a top priority are pro-lifers, which does nothing to help their electoral chances–and actually works against it.

The strategy to have the mid-terms be about abortion will fail, that’s for sure. It’s akin to Liz Cheney’s ploy to appeal to Democrats in Wyoming. This is the math. doesn’t work, and there’s no reason to think the economy and inflation will do anything but remain the top issues for 80+ percent of Americans. Heck, not even Biden’s own officials are pretending anymore that prices are coming down anytime soon. The stock market will continue to be depressed with interest rates rising.

It is really a question of why Democrats believed abortion was their saving grace. It is the DobbsDecision leaked to the media two months earlier. Republicans actually gained some ground during that time. It is unlikely that this decision will change anything in the national scene, even though it is now double-official. I believe that the radicalism of progressive left on abortion may actually cause some voters to be alienated. They aren’t out there talking “safe, legal, and rare” anymore. It’s abortion through birth, and relatively few Americans support that.

Democrats face the reality that they are sinking deeper into the pit of despair. They have no other options but to burn themselves with gasoline. They’ve got no good options, they know they have no good options, and they are going to ride their fractured base to total defeat in a few months.
