The January 6th committee has returned to session in case you weren’t too focused on the things really important. That came after its members announced an “emergency” hearing for Tuesday, including the inclusion of a “surprise” witness.
Now, you’d think going through such pomp and circumstance meant they came across some damning new evidence proving their assertion that Donald Trump organized an insurrection. You are wrong if that is what you believed.
Rather, Tuesday’s hearing was another ridiculous parade of absurdity, full of hearsay and no hard evidence of essentially anything. Cassidy Hutchinson claimed that Cassidy Hutchinson was a former Mark Meadows aid. This claim really took the cake. After putting on their skis, the committee claimed that protesters had AR-15s on January 6.

So cops saw men with rifles at 14th and Constitution right before Trump’s speech and they let him speak anyway?
Are you sure that no one was taken into custody? The area wasn’t immediately cleared and locked down?

Rep. Liz Cheney backed the claim during the hearing, quoting what appeared to be completely mistaken police transmissions, and I’m just left wondering how stupid they think the American people are. Let’s game this out.
According to Cheney and her ridiculous cohorts, there were protesters carrying AR-15s on January 6th, but not a single picture was taken of these armed “insurrectionists” despite there being cameras everywhere. Beyond that, no arrests were made for anyone who was carrying an AR-15 during unrest. In Washington DC, openly carrying a firearm would be illegal. The police are supposed to be believed that we believe they saw these people with AR-15s but didn’t stop Trump from speaking in public in the same area, which just makes no sense at all given protection protocols.
Further, these AR-15-toting insurrectionists apparently did not actually use their weapons, which again makes no sense if their goal was to commit…insurrection.

But it gets even better. Hutchinson later revealed the shocking revelation that Trump could have placed a plate against a wall after being assured there wasn’t any election fraud. Is the man a bad orange? Do not shiver while you watch the next clip.

I don’t know about you, but I want Trump in handcuffs right now. We simply can’t survive as a democracy if he isn’t punished for…getting ketchup on a wall. And that assumes Cassidy’s fanciful tale is even true.
Again, as I’ve said many times in past write-ups, what is any of this supposed to prove? Where’s the evidence of a crime? Heck, where’s the evidence of Trump even having a non-criminal role in the events of January 6th? This mudslinging has no purpose and serves only to promote a narrative that Nancy Pelosi, and others like, have created. This is not a bombshell. Just dud after dud after dud.
Reiterating, the January 6th Committee is an embarrassment. That its members, Democrats at large, and the media are continuing to push this farce, complete with “emergency” hearings, while the nation suffers under crushing inflation and an economic downturn, is a slap in the face to normal Americans. I maintain that the November backlash will not be slow.
