J6 Committee Gets Busted Trying to Spread a Whopper – Opinion

The Jan. 6 Committee isn’t an objective bipartisan effort to look into the riot on that day. It doesn’t even have any members appointed by the Republicans, like a normal committee, but only members appointed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca). The two “Republicans” on the Committee seem to have been picked because of their pronounced bias against President Donald Trump and have been attacking Republicans as well, so hardly objective people. The Committee’s primary purpose is to be used to denigrate their political rivals, and it has gone beyond the Riot.

Even on the very first day of public hearings, we saw how Rep. Liz Cheney from Rhode Island (RINO-WY), spread lies about President Donald Trump’s Jan. 6 statements.

But that hasn’t been the only false smear. One of the smears was something we’ve previously reported on — the Committee’s effort to tie Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) to the riot by falsely suggesting he was giving a reconnaissance tour of the Capitol complex to protesters. Rep. Bennie Thompson (D–MS), Chairman of this Committee, and Rep. Liz Cheney(RINO-WY), demanded Loudermilk testify before them and give an explanation for his actions. They released the letter to the media in order to hurt Loudermilk as well as Republicans. These are some of the McCarthy hearings.

“Based on our review of evidence in the Select Committee’s possession, we believe you have information regarding a tour you led through parts of the Capitol complex on January 5, 2021,” Cheney and Thompson wrote. “The foregoing information raises questions to which the Select Committee must seek answers. Public reporting and witness accounts indicate some individuals and groups engaged in efforts to gather information about the layout of the U.S. Capitol, as well as the House and Senate office buildings, in advance of January 6, 2021.”

Notice even the wording is deceitful, “Capitol complex.” As Rep. Loudermilk explained at the time, he met with a constituent family in House offices, something that representatives do all the time, and they didn’t even go to the Capitol. Loudermilk says that nobody in his family participated in or witnessed the violence on Jan. 6. But the Committee didn’t even ask him about it before they smeared him (and the family) to the media and the world. That’s how concerned about the facts they are.

Then the media blared the “breaking” news as though they actually had something and once again, the walls were “closing in.”

Notice that the “reporter” — Kyle Cheney of Politico — didn’t report accurately what Loudermilk said. Loudermilk claimed that members of the constituent family were never allowed to enter the Capitol.

J. Thomas Manger has now cleared Loudermilk as the Capitol Police Chief. He basically called this smear nonsense.

Manger sent Monday’s letter to Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Ill. This Just the News received. It stated that an extensive review of security footage had not found any evidence that Barry Loudermilk (Republican from Georgia) did more than simply give constituents a tour in the congressional building.

In fact, the chief said, the congressman didn’t even enter the U.S. Capitol with the group.

“There is no evidence that Representative Loudermilk entered the U.S. Capitol with this group on January 5, 2021,” Manger wrote in a letter to Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Ill., the ranking Republican on the House Administration Committee. “We train our officers on being alert for people conducting surveillance or reconnaissance, and we do not consider any of the activities we observed as suspicious.” [….]

Manger’s letter unequivocally cleared Loudermilk, noting his constituent group of 12 to 15 people never even reached the Capitol and did not even enter the tunnels from the adjacent office buildings. They instead visited the Rayburn House Office Building to see an exhibit.

“At no time did the group appear in any tunnels that would have led them to the U.S. Capitol,” the chief wrote to Davis. “In addition, the tunnels leading to the U.S. Capitol were posted with USCP officers and admittance to the U.S. Capitol without a Member of Congress was not permitted on January 5, 2021.”

The Republicans were outraged at the latest deceit by the Committee.

“All I can think of is this is a Soviet-style propaganda trial, like a show trial,” Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-N.Y., who spent time working in Communist Yugoslavia earlier in her career, told Just the News. “They put this tape together using propaganda, selected words and clauses cut and pasted to smear the people they want to smear and to get the outcome.”

Rep, Rodney Davis, the Illinois Republican who pressed Capitol Police to review the evidence and clear Loudermilk, said Democrats who besmirched his colleague’s name need to face accountability before the House Ethics Committee.

“The Democrats need to be ashamed of themselves,” Davis told the “Just the News, Not Noise” television show Monday night.

Doug Collins, a former Georgia Representative, was instrumental in unraveling Russia’s collusion narrative. He said Democrats are at the political limit of the boy-crywolf story and that it is now for mainstream media outlets to fight back. When the Loudermilk accusations surfaced, some of the top media personalities reported them.

“I’m wondering how many of these political writers — The New York Times Washington Post, all these folks — are actually lining up to give the retractions,” Collins told Just the News. “…Let’s just be honest. They buy any narrative they can to impugn conservative congressmen, to malign Donald Trump, to make this event that they’re trying to pin basically on the conservative movement. And they’re willing to destroy lives, you know, really to do it without actually investigating, without reporting.”

That’s the other part of this — not just the Democratic deceit but the reporting. You know that there aren’t going to be any apologies for the false stories that they put out there.

Davis stated that Democrats should be held responsible for spreading lies.

“This is what we knew all along. We knew that there was no Republican who led anybody who breached the Capitol on a reconnaissance tour, leading up to January 6,” he said. “I had my team go through the tapes back in January to verify that because one of my colleagues, Mikie Sherrill, she started this rumor that somehow Republicans were taking people on reconnaissance tours. This was something she claimed to have recognized through her military training. Well, you know what, there is no evidence that that’s ever happened.”

Davis said those who proffered the allegations should “be held accountable by the House Ethics Committee.”

“That is behavior unbecoming of a member of Congress, and you ought to be held accountable for that,” he said.
