It’s Time for the Market Pushback to Begin

The Walt Disney Company has around 200,000 workers across the globe. This week they decided to radically reshape their politics to respond to an extremely small group of radical activists. The Wall Street Journal reported that Bob Chapek, Disney CEO, had refused to be embroiled in politics within the different states and countries where Disney operated. Chapek correctly stated that Disney was there to make magic and not serve any political agenda.

Florida then passed legislation banning the teaching of children about gender identity and orientation to the left. Then all hell broke loose. Senior Disney executives began circulating letters stating that the company opposed the Florida legislation, which opponents had falsely labeled the “Don’t Say Gay” bill (the bill doesn’t mention the word gay once). Some workers threatened to quit if Disney failed to reorient its political views.

Chapek accepted. He sent a letter to staff stating, “You needed me to be a stronger ally in the fight for equal rights and I let you down. I am sorry.” He then pledged a listening tour, the formation of a task force to cater to LGBT priorities, and opposition to a Texas measure that would prosecute genital mutilation or hormonal sterilization of children. The company also committed itself to injecting its radical left-wing values in content, including “new content for children and family” infused with those values. According to reports, Disney even went so far as to commit to including a lesbian kiss in its upcoming children’s film “Lightyear.”

Chapek caves because that is how left-leaning companies operate: They listen to the most outraged members of their left-wing contingent and then repeat them. Large corporations simply give up, instead of finding a solution to an employer who is being attacked by workers and threatening to walk out — or telling them to return to work or to join the unemployment line — Parents who want their children entertained and not indoctrinated are left in horror while radical activists create content.

To combat this absurdity, all those opposed to the Left’s hijacking of large companies must organize and create alternative solutions. This is what The Daily Wire has tried to accomplish. In 2021, Harry’s Razors withdrew their advertising on one of our shows, citing a “values misalignment.” What precisely was the problem? The host stated that women are men, while men are men. He also said that the immutability of sex was a fact.

We resisted. We launched Jeremy’s Razors this week. This razor company is dedicated to the belief that every man, no matter their political affiliation, should have a great shave. We’re here to help you find the right products. Thanks to the priorities and whims of few, we won’t lash out at our customers. That’s why our motto is simple: “Shut up and shave.”

There must be competition if corporations want to become woke. We hope to help fill this gap. It is our hope that other people will follow us.
