It Wasn’t Just Sotomayor—Breyer Was in Fantasyland as Well on Vaccine Mandate – Opinion

Oral arguments before the Supreme Court this morning saw Justice Sonia Sotomayor seem completely lost in another reality. OSHA rules impose a vaccine mandate on all private companies with over 100 employees.

Sotomayor, as we have reported previously, went to fantasyland regarding COVID information. Sotomayor claimed there were more than 100 million children with serious conditions, some of whom are still on ventilators. Also very disturbing, Sotomayor demonstrated that she didn’t understand the concept of state police power, indicating that she thought OSHA had “police power.”

Sotomayor also got something else dangerously wrong — claiming that Omicron was just as deadlyThe Delta variant. It is clear that she does not understand basic facts. And she’s going to be making a critical decision that will affect all Americans? Yikes.

But, what made it worse was that she wasn’t the only one with her head in a bubble of misinformation. Justice Breyer had her own issues, it was evident.

That was amazing!

Breyer said that COVID was in effect for 750,000,000 people just yesterday. You seriously think I am crazy? Yes, that would mean everyone in the country would have had to have gotten it twice in the last 24 hours — and that still wouldn’t be enough to hit his number. Later, he corrected his mistake.

Breyer and Sotomayor falsely claimed hospitals had almost reached full capacity.

Average occupancy rates for community, which is non-Federal and short-term, general hospitals, is approximately 76 per cent. The country’s hospital capacity is slightly higher than average, but it’s not fully filled. While there might be some hospitals that are filled in one area, they may not all over the country.

Breyer apparently also stated that OSHA would not allow for 100 percent new cases.

That’s insane and doesn’t even make logical sense. OSHA only applies to companies with at least 100 employees. While that’s about 100 million people, that’s still less than a third of Americans. Plus the vaccine, as we can see, is hardly 100 percent, so it wouldn’t fully protect even those 100 million people.

Twitter could have wangled both these characters to misinformation. This is assuming they weren’t on the wrong side of the aisle, and that they didn’t say this via Twitter. But, it’s astonishing the fate of so many Americans may be in the hands of these folks.

Fortunately, although it’s always hard to tell, the conservatives on the Court, seemed to have a better understanding of reality and asked more coherent questions. If you’re wondering why you don’t get certain decisions from the liberal side, you now know.
