The January 6th Committee is set to begin public hearings on Monday, marking the next iteration of the sham body that is seeking to prove a vast right-wing conspiracy to breach the Capitol Building and “overturn” the 2020 election. They are primarily targeting former President Donald Trump.
How much evidence has the committee? There doesn’t appear to be any at all, as every past “bombshell” has turned out to be nothingness. Still, the hype is real as its members proclaim that they’ve got the goods and have just been holding them in reserve. Given how leaky the committee has been, though, it seems improbable that they’d have been able to keep something significant under lock and key.
This is an example. Axios reports via leaked documents that committee members are having internal disagreements that could threaten its credibility. (I laughed, too).
NEW: Jan 6 committee has split behind the scenes over what actions to take after public hearings: Some members want big changes on voting rights — incl to abolish the Electoral College — while others are resisting proposals to overhaul the election system. https://t.co/twy2dfF2X4

According to a source, Cheney feels that the committee would lose credibility if they tried radical reforms like the Abolition of the Electoral College. We are grateful to the following people for their support. @HansNichols

Good news, Liz Cheney. The committee already has no credibility, so there’s no need to worry about the insane things Jamie Raskin is pushing. Despite the reality of the situation, it is still hilarious to see this unfold. Cheney believed she was joining forces with whomever she wanted to torpedo her political career and become close friends with Nancy Pelosi.
As I’ve pointed out before, Raskin is a nutjob who actually tried to overturn the 2016 election, not based on any suggestion of fraud, but simply because he didn’t like Trump. And this is who Cheney thought she’d get a fair shake from? It shouldn’t be a shock to anyone, much less the Wyoming representative, that Democrats do not see the January 6th committee as some truth-finding mission. They see the January 6th committee as an opportunity to continue their campaign of stealing elections into the future.
They are not looking to improve the security of the elections system, but rather to reduce its vulnerability. They are seeking to abolish voter ID, require same-day registration and impose a universal vote by mail system. The Electoral College will be eliminated so that New York and California can elect their presidents. Cheney pretending that this is an honest, surprising disagreement is absurd is not true. She knew what she was signing up for, and now she’s responsible for what comes from this committee. She will not be absolved by any leakage to Axios.
Can you please tell me, if anyone can, why the January 6-th committee decided to investigate changing election laws. What does that committee’s stated mission have to do with whether Houston, TX, has drive-thru voting or if Wisconsin has voter-ID? The committee’s blatant partisanship is further highlighted by any imposition on existing voting laws and specifically any proposal to federalize elections. The goal isn’t to expose some nefarious plot. It’s to make it so Democrats get elected into perpetuity. It’s at least that they are honest now.
