In Vienna, the Biden Administration Is Giving Away the Store to Iran, and Russia Is Helping – Opinion

It’s no mystery.  It’s not surprising that the Barack Obama Administration has been in the Biden Administration for three terms. Obama’s path to a nuke deal with Iran was scuttled by President Trump in 2018 and one of the first things Biden did was to revive that deal – a deal that was both baffling and frightening. It was a deal that opened the door to lifting sanctions and creating an Iran with nuclear capabilities. Biden had made no secret of his intention to restart the Iran agreement once he became president. Since months, the parties have met in Vienna. It’s not going well for sanity. It’s going great for both Russia and Iran.

Russia and Putin both dream about a Soviet Union, where the first victory over Ukraine is the result of the Soviet Union, but Putin simultaneously supports the Iranian attempt to acquire a nuclear weapons. The aim seems clear — to weaken America. Biden supports this effort.  Russia and the United States are helping to give away the store in light of the ongoing war in Kyiv and surrounding areas. In talks with Iran informally being run by a Russian diplomat named Mikhail Ulyanov, the Biden Administration is on the verge of giving Iran what it wants – a world stage and normalizing terrorism by removing, among others, the Revolutionary Guard from the list of terrorist organizations.

An ex-diplomat from the US State Department with experience in Iran has raised alarm. He isn’t the only one. Present State Department officials in Vienna aren’t just concerned — they are frightened. Gabriel Noronha was the ex-diplomat. He wrote about his concerns six months ago – that the US was giving in to the Iranians’ demands. Present officials are now worried and have reached out to Noronha. We are very worried.

Noronha was informed by one diplomat “What’s happening in Vienna is a total disaster.” Negotiations are “essentially run” by Ulyanov. Noronha regards this as both a security risk and slow-moving disaster.

The diplomats raised the following concerns:

  1. Lifting of sanctions imposed on the “Supreme Leader” of Iran and almost all of the remaining 112 individuals on the list. This is basically lifting the sanctions on known terrorists. It could be as quick as next Monday. Terrorists on the list include Mohsen Rezaei — he was involved in a 1994 bombing that killed 85 people in Argentina — and Iranian Revolutionary Guard Gen. Hossein Dehghan, who was leading IRGC forces in Lebanon and Syria when Iranian-linked Hezbollah killed US Marines in Beirut.
  2. Sanctions against Bonyad Mustazafan were lifted. It was the one responsible for confiscating Jews’ property. If that sounds like Germany 1937, you’d be right.

While Ukraine burns, President Biden’s envoys fiddle. Robert Malley, the man at the top of them all is among them. Malley may be either ignorant or willing to be controlled in Vienna. The “conflict negotiator” is rolling over to Iran’s demands. The Biden Administration is giving Iran what it wants: a path to a nuke and the lifting of sanctions – and few people are noticing. Many career diplomats are fed up and want to quit. These terms, which Russia appears to have negotiated privately with Congress, are the last hope for a catastrophe.
