HYPOCRITES: ABC, NBC Bemoan ‘Insurrectionist’ Freedom Convoy ‘Occupying’ Ottawa

ABC and NBC continue their kvetching about the Freedom Truck Convoy in Ottawa Canada tonight over the huge freedom convoy made up of truckers protesting being forced to obtain the jab to allow them to cross into the U.S./Canada border in order to transport goods.

ABC World News TonightThe segment was started by anchor David Muir whining about “hundreds of trucks part of the freedom truck convoy, they say, bringing the government center to a standstill. Tonight, protests are spreading to the U.S. Border. Long lines of semi’s at the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit now.”

Muir turned then to ABC News’ Trevor Ault, a correspondent on ABC News about the freedom convoy. Ault shared the concern with Muir about how the convoy was spreading.  “the police chief saying his city is under siege, calling the demonstrations a nationwide insurrection as solidarity protests pop up across Canada and in Alaska. And the protests are supported by sympathizers around the world, including in the United States.”

NBC continues to air the show. Nightly NewsMiguel Almaguer, Miguel Almaguer’s national correspondent, lamented “the movement is being called an insurrection by some, paralyzing the Canadian capitol.”

Almaguer continued to lament that “with reports of protests turning violent, Canada’s prime minister Justin Trudeau says there’s no plan, for now, to call in the military to clear the streets.” Almaguer refers to the convoy ironically in a later segment of his report about the effects the protests had. “unprecedented occupation of Ottawa.”

This language wasn’t used during coverage by the networks of occupations taking place in Seattle, Washington D.C. in summer 2020.

This is the latest example of leftist coverage by the evening television network of the freedom caravan. Liberty MutualFidelity and ABC. They are linked.

DAVIDMUIR: We turn north tonight to see a new scene as well as the current state of emergency in Ottawa, Canada. Protests against Covid restrictions are now growing after the protests began about a mandate to inoculate truck drivers with vaccines. Many trucks were part of the “freedom truck convoy”, they claim, and this is bringing down the government’s center. Tonight, protests are spreading towards the U.S. Border. Long lines of semi’s at the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit now. ABC’s Trevor Ault is from Ottawa.

TREVORAULT: Canada’s protests by truck drivers are spreading towards the US border tonight. Video of the semis lining up at Detroit’s Ambassador Bridge. Officials claimed that demonstrators had slowed down the border wait time. This comes after 11 days of unrest in Canada’s capital city. Ottawa streets choked by thousands of demonstrators and hundreds of trucks. This so-called freedom congy was first formed to protest a mandate that truck drivers be vaccinated in order to cross over the border. Now, they are calling for the end of all Covid restrictions. It is loud here, with its engine horns, speeches and music. Protesters like these will soon be heard.

UNIDENTIFIED TRUCK DRIVER: We’ve been here since last Saturday.

AULT – Last Saturday?

Yes.

AULT – Just stay in the truck

UNIDENTIFIED TRUCK DRIVER Yup

AULT: How long do you think you’ll be out here?

UNIDENTIFIED TRUCK DRIVER: Until it happens.

AULT – Officials are declaring a State of Emergency, citing desecrated national monuments, as well as protestors displaying hate symbols.

POLICY CHIEF PETER SLOLLY: My officers live and work in these areas. Their children and they have never been able sleep. Both they and their children were unable to get to school.

AULT: Police chief says his city is under siege. He calls the protests a national insurrection. The protests have been supported worldwide by sympathizers including the United States. There are more than 100,000 supporters trying to finance the protests. The GoFundMe page for the multimillion dollar fund has been removed. According to the company, it was necessary to refund funds raised due to increased reports of violence or other illegal activity.

And David, as those the demonstrators are now near Detroit on the ambassador bridge, the busiest land crossing in North America,  a lot of anti-vaccine, anti-mandate sympathizers want to use this as a blueprint and there’s already some evidence of potential plans for similar demonstrations in Europe and in Washington, D.C.
