House Democrat Wants to Burn Down America’s Institutions to Violate Your Rights – Opinion

Democrats used Uvalde’s school shooting to gain momentum in their fight for gun control. Talks of an “assault weapons” ban and universal background checks have taken center stage. Joe Biden, meanwhile, has been rambling about 9mm ammunition being banned, not understanding what he actually meant.

Yet, much to the consternation of the left, the United States still possesses various institutions that can’t simply be bypassed because Democrats want something. Rep. Mondaire Jones (D-NY), a far-left progressive, wants you to know that he doesn’t care about that stuff, though. He and his party will tear down anything and everything in their way, in order to remove “weapons of war” from “our” communities.

Do you think a guy like Jones looks in the mirror and realizes he’s the tyrant in this picture? You literally have a member of the House of Representatives proclaiming that he’ll blow up the Senate and pack the Supreme Court, in order to get his chosen outcome. That’s the kind of thing that happens in third-world dictatorships, and that such rhetoric has become normalized in America is disturbing at best.

What makes this even more obscene is that the things he’s willing to destroy in the nation’s system of government wouldn’t even prevent mass shootings. Virginia Tech University witnessed one of the most tragic mass shootings in American history. This was done with handguns. The idea that an evil person is going to simply give up because they don’t have an “assault rifle” is farcical. You ban one thing, and they’ll just go to the next thing on the list. That’s why talk of confiscating AR-15s is so pointless.

It is important to note that the background checks are passed by mass shooters on a regular basis. Jones is unable to name any mass shootings that took place after an attacker bought a gun from someone without having done a background check. The guns are either legally purchased or stolen in almost all cases. This situation is not going to be fixed by a universal background law.

But really, the details aren’t important here. What’s important is understanding that there are no boundaries for Democrats. They will do anything to get their way, including using the deaths of children as an excuse to destroy America’s institutions–so they can pass laws that wouldn’t have helped anyway. There is no sacred or meaningful thing.

Republicans should not be folding, but stiffen their spines now. To do so now so as to be seen as “doing something,” no matter how ineffective, would be a green light for the left to go even further. GOP Senators should not negotiate with Democrats about gun control. In the end, you give up an inch here and soon, you’ll be losing a mile. Mondaire J. Jones does this sound like someone that would be willing to compromise? To feed into such would be profoundly dangerous for the nation’s stability.
