Hillary Clinton Gets it Right for a Change – Opinion

When even failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton can see what’s wrong with the Democratic Party, you know the left is in deep trouble. Clinton attacked the left-leaning progressive wing earlier this month and suggested that it would be the main reason the Democrats lose in the midterm elections.

Clinton said that Democrats should think of ways they can win other elections than those in deep-blue areas, which is where Clinton was speaking. “I think that it is a time for some careful thinking about what wins elections, and not just in deep-blue districts where a Democrat and a liberal Democrat, or so-called progressive Democrat, is going to win,” she said. “I understand why people want to argue for their priorities. That’s what they believe they were elected to do.”

Clinton continued, saying she is “all about having vigorous debate,” but that “at the end of the day it means nothing if we don’t have a Congress that will get things done, and we don’t have a White House that we can count on to be sane and sober and stable and productive.”

The former secretary of state’s remarks come after Republicans trounced Democrats in Virginia’s gubernatorial election in November. Many people speculated the outcome of this election could be a sign that Democrats will win more seats in Congress as well as in state and local elections.

Since January 1, the Democratic Party’s far-left and moderate sections have been at war. Progressives were blamed by establishment officials for the loss of important races in 2020. The far-left clique, including members of “The Squad,” have constantly lashed out at the moderates for not going full Marxist on their policy proposals. The fact that socialist groups like Justice Democrats, with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) at the forefront, have targeted vulnerable Democratic candidates during primary season didn’t help matters much either.

Clinton is clearly having an uncontrolled moment here, as her judgment was spot-on. There are many reasons the Democrats may get the midterms they deserve. One of the biggest reasons is that the progressive wing has been causing far more harm than good. For those who are suffering from skyrocketing crimes rates, their insistence on funding police departments across the country has caused devastating effects.

Even worse, their disjointed defense of Critical Race Theory (CRT) in the classroom didn’t do them any favors either. When parents saw the material progressives have been injecting into the curriculum, progressives responded by simultaneously pretending CRT concepts weren’t being used in public school and also defending the idea that CRT concepts should be used in public schools.

This list could go on.

The crux of the matter is that progressive policies aren’t as popular as they would have you believe. They lack the political influence needed to make the country move leftward because there aren’t enough socialists in Congress. They claim to be champions of the rights of brown and black Americans but have not been able to convince them. At the moment, progressives seem to be a pig without a tail. Their bark may not match their bite. The question now is, how much longer can this continue?
