Hilarious but Scary Video of Dem Who Wants to Chair Transportation Committee – Opinion

Eleanor Holmes Norton, the congressional delegate, represents Washington, D.C., in Congress. She’s represented the district for over thirty years. She’s a member of the Congressional Black Caucus and the Progressive Caucus. Additionally, she serves on the Committee on Oversight and Reform and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

Holmes Norton’s involvement in the release and running of zebras around D.C. was what we last wrote about. Seriously.

Dec., she wrote to House Democrats to ask for their support in her becoming chair of or the ranking member for the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure during the next Congress. The current chair is Rep. Peter DeFazio (D.OR). Rep. Rick Larsen, D-WA has expressed his interest.

According to Roll Call, both are next in line of seniority on the Committee, and both hold positions as chairs of the two most powerful subcommittees — Norton chairs the Highways and Transit Subcommittee, while Larsen chairs the Aviation Subcommittee. Because the bipartisan infrastructure bill was approved not long ago, the next chair will oversee a wide range of issues.

But Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) had some thoughts about Norton’s request, and his hilarious response it lighting up the internet. The video shows Norton trying parking her car. It’s clear that Democrats have gone in the opposite direction. It’s both funny and scary.

The video was taken in 2015. Roll Call reported it at the time as the “worst parking job ever” and “abandon all hope, ye who happen to park anywhere near geometrically challenged-motorist Eleanor Holmes Norton.” Now we should note that she later claimed to media that there was no damage to the other cars and the Capitol Police said no report had been filed about any damage. You’re asking yourself how you can park that way, and how are you going to get it out? What does it say about you?

This is an analogy for Democrats not knowing where to go. And if this is how she was driving in 2015 when she was 77, what is she driving like now when she’s 84? Roll Call noted this wasn’t the only bad parking job that could be attributed to her, noting she allegedly blocked a handicap ramp with her car and then took off. The sources say that a female ticket meter observed the incident, but did not do anything.

Holmes Norton joins the ranks of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and Joe Biden, who may have been retired long ago.
