Here’s How Volodymyr Zelensky Survived Three Assassination Attempts – Opinion

As Russian President Vladimir Putin intensifies his military campaign against former Soviet Union member Ukraine, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate. It was disclosed that Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, has survived at least three attempts to assassinate him since Russia invaded Ukraine last week.

The Times Of London reported:

Two different outfits have been sent to kill the Ukrainian president — mercenaries of the Kremlin-backed Wagner group and Chechen special forces. Both have been thwarted by anti-war elements within Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB).

According to Wagner mercenaries, they suffered significant losses in Kyiv during the attempts. They were also said to have been concerned by how accurate the Ukrainians predicted their actions. A source close to the group said it was “eerie” how well briefed Zelensky’s security team appeared to be.

The report indicated that mercenaries working with the Russian-backed Wagner group and Chechen special forces were unsuccessful in their attempts to eliminate the Ukrainian president because they were thwarted by anti-war elements within the Kremlin’s Federal Security Service, the successor to the KGB. “They would be going in there with a very high-profile mission, something that the Russians would want to be deniable — a decapitation of a head of state is a huge mission,” an unnamed official told The Times.

Ukrainian Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov earlier this week confirmed that Chechen special forces also made an attempt on Zelensky’s life. He added:

“I can say that we have received information from the FSB [Russia’s Federal Security Service]Today, there are many who do not wish to be a part of this bloody conflict. And I’m able to tell you that this is possible because of it. [Chechen leader Ramzan] Kadyrov’s elite group was destroyed directly, which came here to eliminate our president.”

The European Union targeted the Wagner Group for sanctions in December for committing “serious human rights abuses, including torture and extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions and killings, and destabilizing activist” in various nations according to Fox News. According to Fox News, the news channel also stated that Zelensky might have been around for a while before they invaded.

Fox News Digital heard from former U.S. intelligence personnel that they believed these mercenaries had been operating in Kyiv longer than expected because Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded on-the-ground intelligence within the capital of Ukraine in preparation for the planned invasion which began just five days earlier.

This report could prove to be another indication of the many speculations that have been made: Putin underestimated how much opposition would arise after he invaded Ukraine. Other reports also suggested that Moscow wasn’t prepared for protests by Russia and from the rest of the world, who were united to sanction Moscow for the brazen act of tyranny.

It is important to remember that false and misleading reports, as well as propaganda, have been floating around the airwaves. We must be careful about taking every story seriously. It is unlikely that Putin would attempt to kill Zelensky, given the history of his regime’s treatment journalists opposed to his rule. Whatever the case, Putin has no problem with business dealings despite all opposition.
