A bill to reduce the Constitution rights for Americans was passed by some Senate Republicans on Thursday night. It gives Democrats an advantage in their gun control campaign.
The Senate approved the bill, 65 votes to 33, as we reported. Each Senator that caucuses alongside the Democrats voted “yes.” Here’s a list of 15 Republicans who sold it to us and voted in favor.

Now some of them did it because they were retiring and so they didn’t care about their “careers” or our votes. Others were just elected and/or don’t face re-election until 2026 and are likely counting on us forgetting the betrayal of our gun rights.

Romney (up in 2024).— Sahil Kapur (@sahilkapur) June 24, 2022
Senator Lisa Murkowski, RINO-AK is running in 2022. Sen. Mitt Mitt Romney (RINO–UT) is running in 2024. They were already going to get primaried, although in Alaska they now have open primaries and the top four people go to the general election where they will have ranked-choice voting. That likely aids Murkowski.
This bill will now be sent to the House, and it is most likely that Friday’s vote there will follow.
Jennifer Van Laar, my colleague, explained that the bill includes some extremely concerning provisions. These include funding for red flag laws, which can interfere with our due process rights.
Ironically, the Senate passed it on the exact same day as Justice Clarence Thomas’s great decision regarding gun rights. Democrats Joe Biden and NY Governor also supported the motion. Kathy Hochul and Joe Biden lost it over concealed carry. It was already clear that Caniglia and Strom 2021 (9-0) had called into question red flag laws. They ruled against searches and seizures without due process. Legislators may need to review this before making rash decisions.
But these Republicans don’t care about the Supreme Court or our rights. It’s particularly harmful at a point where all on the right should be concentrated on holding together to defeat the Democrats in November, not melting like snowmen in the sun to help the Democrats achieve their gun control aims. Republicans enjoy record levels of enthusiasm, and they have the most generic position in Congress since many years. They’re perfectly poised to boot the Democrats out if they hold together and listen to the base. This doesn’t help the Republicans’ cause when they make moves like this.
