We reported earlier that the Senate had voted to move forward on the gun bill, known as the “Safer Communities Act.” My colleague Jennifer Van Laar provided the text and some initial analysis of the Senate gun bill, earlier this week, and it includes some big concerns over red flag laws.
Just minutes ago, the Senate passed the bill 65 to 33. Some Republicans helped the Democrats pass it in an extremely bad move.
1) The Senate approved the legislation to reduce firearms violence. Vote was 65 to 33.
Every senator who caucused with Democrats voted Yes.
Republicans are the ones who voted for all of these nays.
Now, the bill goes to Congress to be synchronized tomorrow.

Now it goes to the House.
2) This will be the first major piece of legislation relating to firearms that Congress approves since November 30, 1993. In 1993, Congress okayed “The Brady Bill.” It required background checks and a waiting period to purchase handguns.

Chuck Schumer, Senate Majority Leader, was honored.
Schumer: As the author of the Brady Bill from 1994—the last [major] legislative effort to fight gun violence in Congress—I’m pleased that this moment has finally come, and that we’re finally taking meaningful action to keep our communities safe.

This is a very dangerous move and will have a negative impact on gun rights.
RedState will update as soon as possible because this is breaking news.
