Gretchen Whitmer Targets Trump Choice for Governor Before Tuesday’s Primary – Opinion

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and all the Democrats of the state need your support. They have no problem executing a hatchet job about who they believe is a threat to their November election. The Republicans could perhaps take a page from the book, and make it even better. It would be only possible after the pigs are seen flying and the Detroit Tigers have competed for a World Seris title.

It’s all good.

While we are getting closer to the Michigan primaries on Tuesday, August 2, I’ve been wondering about all the jockeying that has taken place to win the GOP nomination. And who will challenge Whitmer in the fall? With the recent endorsement of Tudor Dixon, former President Trump has made this a more heated race than it was just two weeks ago.

These are some of my earlier musings.

Are Kevin Rinke and Gov Whitmer secret fans of Kevin Rinke, Michigan GOP Gubernatorial Candidates?

BREAKING NEWS: The Former President Donald Trump Backs Tudor Dixon to be Michigan Governor

The Reaction to Donald Trump’s Endorsement for Governor in Michigan Is Truly Confusing

From my article above about some of the weird overreactions to Trump’s endorsement.

Some of his responses were interesting, let’s just say.

You are so beautiful, my dear! [expletive] idiot. Establishment. [expletive] rhino and its finest what in the hell are you thinking I’m voice texting and I know that rhino is not spelled like that when it comes to politics but then what in the hell R U thinking

Then there was this gem…

Dixon is an actress. Dixon is all about the show. She’s utterly clueless at the second. Devo’s bought and puppet.

These are just some of the more rational responses that were posted about Trump’s endorsement and as you can see, that is not saying much. Truly, it has been eye-opening to watch the chaos of politicians who claimed they understood politics.

Let’s take this example.

Seems that Donald Trump’s endorsement of Dixon comes just days after Democrats started teeing off on her in possible preparation for her winning the nomination. It would be rational to ask why the Democrats would run ads against Gretch when he has not won.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, rational thought is not always possible in certain cases.

From Bridge Michigan, Democrats slam Tudor Dixon in attack ad, days before Michigan governor primary…

Democrats are targeting Michigan Republican gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon with a new attack ad in the final days before Tuesday’s GOP primary.

A group called Put Michigan First is supported by the Democratic Governors Association and spends $2 million to air a TV ad suggesting that a Dixon tax cut could lead to mass police officer layoffs.

Dixon’s proposal to “phase out” Michigan’s personal income tax, which generates $12 billion a year in revenue for state and local governments, could “slash” funding for police across the state, “threatening funding for thousands of law enforcement jobs,” a narrator says as a graphic warns of police layoffs.

Ironically, the DGA argued that Democrats were the party to be defeated.Stop funding the PoliceThis is an excellent way to cover up your political mistakes and show others.

However, the main point of this campaign is not Trump’s endorsement, but why Dixon was targeted by Dems. You might wonder if you’re a curious guy like me and what their internal polling is showing for a Whitmer/Dixon matchup.

It could be argued that it would make sense to target the GOP leader before the Tuesday primary. Why not run the entire group? Instead of focusing on Dixon (who isn’t the only one calling to reduce Michigan’s income taxes), they are trying to discredit her by reducing the funding for police.

Dixon hit back, from that article above…

Dixon called the ad “complete baloney” and “absolute bull” on Wednesday morning in a round-table discussion in metro Detroit’s Redford Township with leaders of the Police Officers Association of Michigan, a statewide union group that has endorsed her in the GOP primary.

“I would never do that,” Dixon said, referring to the claim that she would cut police funding if elected.

The ad she said was evidence that Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is “scared of going up against me” in the general election.

Whitmer is probably scared of going up against her, which is actually a poignant political observation coming from someone who has been accused of just being an “actress” and a “puppet.” This is also pretty sound reasoning of how campaigns operate and work. Your goal is to get rid of your opponent as quickly as possible.

So while I’m not privy to all the reasons why Donald Trump decided to endorse Dixon, I would like to think part of it has to do with endorsing a candidate who can actually beat the incumbent. If the Democrats in Washington D.C. trying to protect Whitmer know who has a good chance of knocking her out of the Governor’s mansion, maybe Trump knew it also.

This does not mean that any of the candidates could not campaign strongly against him. “Queen of Lockdowns”The DGA ad gives the most direct indication about Whitmer’s concern.

We hope that those who claim to represent the grassroots of this state will take a step back. And remember, after Tuesday’s vote that the Republican primary winner for Governor for the GOP is not the only one who can lose the November election.

If Donald Trump can overlook a slight that the “grassroots” finds intolerable, why should those grassroots people give a damn if the goal is defeating Whitmer?

Sometimes, you have to just wonder.
