Each year since 2015 I’ve taken the time and invited Fraser City Council hopefuls to have a conversation with me about what it means to them to be elected in this smaller city of 15,000 inhabitants.
This year, there are four people on the ballot, and two of them — incumbents David Winowiecki and Suzanne Kalka — agreed to talk with me about the past four years they have served and what they look forward to doing if elected for another four years.
Below are some topics that we touched on during this one-hour interview.
*What has occurred since the city cut eight public safety officers and closed its dispatch center in 2017. What they also learned during a ride-along in which they both took Fraser Public Safety.
*The city has a “downtown” and what has been done recently and what can be done in the years ahead.
*How another four-year term would start differently than their last one.
