The Hill reported that a federal grand jury indicted Peter Navarro as Trump’s former economic advisor for failing to obey subpoenas sent by the House Jan. 6 Select Committee.
According to the outlet, Navarro is being charged with two misdemeanors for contempt of Congress. Navarro’s indictment was made public on Friday, and he could spend up to a year in jail and pay up to $100,000 in fines for each count if he’s found guilty, according to The Hill.
According to the Associated Press the first charge is to avoid a deposition while the second to for failing to provide documents the committee needed to review. In April, the committee voted to disqualify Navarro.
Fox News’ Chad Pergram, Fox News’ correspondent pointed out that Steve Bannon was the only person whom the Department of Justice pursued after a vote of the committee to make him in contempt. This is despite Dan Scavino and former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows also receiving contempt votes.
2) House also votes to ex-Trump aide Dan Scavino, and ex-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows out of contempt of Congress. However, the DoJ has not charged them.
