Harry Reid, the former Senate Majority leader, has died at the age82.
Reid, who was diagnosed as having pancreatic cancer in 2018, worked in Congress between 1983 and his retirement. In 2019, he announced that he was now in remission.
The Democrats’ current Majority Leader, Chuck Schumer remembered Reid in a statement on Twitter late Tuesday, calling him “one of the most amazing individuals I’ve ever met”:
Harry Reid was one my favorite people.
He never forgot where he came from and used those boxing instincts to fearlessly fight those who were hurting the poor & the middle class

Former HUD secretary and San Antonio mayor Julain Castro also shared his thoughts on Reid’s passing;
Harry Reid showed us how to fight for the causes we believe in, campaign with conviction and govern with guile.
My thoughts go out to his family—and to the people of Nevada, who have benefited tremendously from his work. pic.twitter.com/4VwpXADXRk
