Kamala Harris made a statement about COVID yesterday which was quite hard to believe.
Harris claimed that the scientists “upon whose advice and direction we have relied” and the Biden team “didn’t see” the variants like Delta and Omicron coming.
“We didn’t see Delta coming. I think most scientists did not — upon whose advice and direction we have relied — didn’t see Delta coming,” she said. “We didn’t see Omicron coming. And that’s the nature of what this, this awful virus has been, which as it turns out, has mutations and variants.”
Now, that seemed like a nonsensical comment, as there were already variants happening before Biden and Harris came into office — and if you have any understanding of viruses at all, you know that there are likely to be variants and mutations. So, she was effectively saying the administration that’s always screaming “science, science, science” was ignorant of that basic science. She also took a veiled swipe at Joe Biden for saying that we had independence from COVID on July 4, saying “We have not been victorious over it.”
She also caused a stir during an interview with the Wall Street Journal when she said that she and Biden hadn’t discussed running again, when White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki had already said last month the official position of the administration was that he was running again.
Today, on “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd,” Dr. Anthony Fauci disputed the claim Harris made that the scientists didn’t know about the possibility of variants. Harris was corrected. He said that yes, he did see the variants coming and he thought that Harris had been taken a “bit out of context.”
Fauci said that VP Kamala Harris commenting that “the Biden administration didn’t see” COVID variations coming was taken out of context.

“I believe she was referring to the fact that the extraordinary number of mutations and amino acid substitutions, particularly with Omicron, no one had expected it that much. We were prepared and knew we would see variations. There`s no doubt about that.”
But that is not what she said — she sounded surprised about the possibility of mutations and variants — “as it turns out, [it] has mutations and variants.”
Fauci claims “we were well prepared” — seemingly the exact opposite of what Harris was implying.
It’s bad when Fauci, who himself can’t be trusted, has to clean up the mess that Harris leaves.
It’s like watching a clown perform in incompetence. And they wonder why people don’t trust what they have to say?
Chuck Todd was also surprised to hear Fauci say something to Chuck Todd. This is based on their previous approach to COVID as outlined in the transcript.
You don’t have to be isolated if your vaccines are up. Some people — and I think it would be prudent to wind up getting tested. Chuck, testing is now much easier than ever. We’ll be more successful in the coming weeks and even a month.
You don’t have to be isolated or quarantined if your vaccine is up. If you’re fully vaccinated, you may want to have a second test to confirm that your immunity has not been compromised.
So, he’s saying now that if you’ve been exposed, you don’t need to quarantine if you’re fully vaccinated, you just need to test yourself in a few days. Huh? This seems contrary to their previous advice not to quarantine anyone exposed to the virus. But, it’s the official CDC position, that if you’re fully vaccinated you do not have to quarantine after exposure.
You can add another element to the confusion this administration has created.
