Tasha from Dallas Texas posted; “WOWWWW. I’ve never felt so welcomed walking into a barber shop. I’m from Dallas and was in Charleston when I decided to give this place a shot. You walk into this barber shop and feel so welcomed by the barbers there. They were very nice and warm people to be around. This place has real southern charm. I’m really picky about my cuts, but I absolutely love the fresh fade I got from my barber. They did a really nice job with my hair! Super pleased :)”
Client Chelle from Maryland wrote: “This is very much a neighborhood barber shop. Thad Miller and Kenny Jordan have been cutting hair for many, many years. This shop truly serves the community. At any given time you will see Citadel Cadets and faculty; students and faculty from the College of Charleston; as well as community leaders. This is a safe zone for ladies as well. No disrespect of women will ever be tolerated. The barbers are craftsmen and gentlemen.”
Indeed the barber shop is known for its local and communal appeal. Thad, its longtime leading barber, is a gracious and charismatic figure who is not only well-liked for his professionalism but also for his charm and likability. The barber shop has an incredibly diverse pool of customers that it caters to. Among them are students at the College of Charleston; The Medical University of South Carolina; students and Cadets from the Citadel and of course neighbors in the Cannonborough Elliotborough neighborhood.
The business’ commitment to the community is something that has consistently inspired the confidence and admiration of neighborhood members; and justifiably so. Not to mention the incredibly welcoming atmosphere and environment that Mr. Wilborn, the shop’s owner and Mr. Thad Miller and its barbers have been successful at creating and indeed fostering. Anyone who comes into the shop is immediately met with a smile; an embrace; and of course, a state of the art class A haircut. For that reason among others, we at Pluralist, are pleased to recognize The Family Barber Shop as Charleston’s premier barber shop.
