The Supreme Court has been overturned ever sinceRoe V. WadeLast month, pro-choice advocates and media allies went on an influence campaign to convince the public that this decision was wrong.
The men believed that they had found the perfect case. Indianapolis Star reported that a 10-year-old rape victim who lives in Ohio had gone to Indiana for an abortion because Ohio’s new abortion restrictions wouldn’t allow her to have one there. This story, like many others, was false. Ohio has a medical exception that allows for abortions in cases of emergency. The state law is not clear and it’s uncertain how it would even have been applied in this case.
Initial confirmation of the authenticity of the rape story was not possible. There was no police report and Ohio’s attorney general said he had Nothing heard. Columbus police Did you receive a report? on the rape from a local children’s services department in late June, no Ohio hospital reported treating the girl. Even Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler said he was skeptical about the case.
The pro-choice side seemed less enthusiastic when the details were revealed to prove the story to be true. That’s because, according to ICE, the alleged rapist, 27-year-old Gerson Fuentes of Guatemala, entered the country illegally.
Reporters should ask many questions regarding this case.
One of the most important is “How did Fuentes reach Ohio?” Was he brought to the state on one of the Biden administration’s late-night flights that are distributing immigrants across the country?
Was Fuentes also convicted of a crime and was he known to be a serial sex-offender?
The third question is: Where did the alleged attacks take place? According to police, Fuentes admitted twice to the rape of the victim. If the rapes occurred in the girl’s home, where was her mother? Is she failing to enforce parental oversight? Were the attacks on different days?
Fourth, did she tell her mother anything about the incident? If she did, why didn’t her mother call the police and have Fuentes arrested? She called police eventually, according to police. Is it the second assault? In a bizarre twist, the girl’s mother has The charges were denied Even though Fuentes has confessed to it, police still believe he was guilty.
Fifth, was Fuentes living with the girl’s mother as her boyfriend? What was their relationship like? Where was the girl’s father?
A legal maxim states: Hard cases can lead to bad law. It means an extreme case, such as this one, is a “poor basis for a general law that would cover a wider range of less extreme cases. In other words, a general law is better drafted for the average circumstance.”
Some pro-choicers could be exaggerating. Many churches have been burned and vandalized. Pregnancy help centers offer free services, as opposed to most providers of abortion who charge fees. At the Supreme Court, Roman Catholic Supreme Court justices have also come under attack. They have retorted by Targeting Abortion clinics are threatening the life of providers. It is not clear where it will end.
In their protests, pro-choicers don’t address the reasoning behind the majority opinion. They simply claim the ruling was “unconstitutional,” when the court ruled it was the original RoeUnconstitutional decision
No young girl – or grown woman – should be sexually assaulted. Victims of this type of crime must be punished severely and registered as sex offenders.
This 10-year-old girl needs compassion and counseling to help her overcome this double trauma. As more details become available, the authorities should answer all the above-mentioned questions. They should release the results of their investigations to the general public. This investigation now appears to have insufficient information about the tragedy.
