In the Michael Sussmann trial, the prosecution and defense are done. The jury will now decide if they want to proceed with their case. Sussmann has been charged with lying to FBI. Sussmann claimed he was not working for any client.
There have been many interesting evidence pieces in the trial, such as witness testimony and billing statements, that show the FBI lied about this situation.
There’s another piece of information that seems to be a smoking gun as well. Durham has produced a receipt that shows Sussmann purchased the USB’s given to the FBI and then billed the Hillary campaign for them.
Here’s receipt for Sussmann purchase of two thumb drives at Staples near Perkins Coie 9/13/16. When pushing Alfa Bank bullshit on 9/19/16, he left USB sticks with data for FBI. Expense report ID# here shows he billed USBs to Clinton campaign 9/22/16.https://t.co/bpDOd92292 pic.twitter.com/oOlloY8Pj1

I have no idea what Sussmann’s defense is at this point, though I understand that he’s got really good lawyers. Still, the evidence remains overwhelming that he lied to the FBI about who he was working for when he brought Hillary’s disinformation to the FBI.
Sussmann charged Hillary with two USB drives, which were just so happen to have been given to FBI that day. I find it hilarious that Sussmann could lose his freedom and be convicted because he was too cheap to eat $20, but there’d certainly be some poetic justice in that.
Still, I’m rather unconvinced that a guilty verdict is going to be returned. As I’ve written in the past, D.C. juries are terrible, and this one is stacked against Durham. Not only does it include multiple donors to Hillary Clinton, but one juror even admitted that he couldn’t be impartial when dealing with Donald Trump. Yet, the Obama judge in charge didn’t find that to be disqualifying.
I guess we’ll find out. Durham revealed that Donald Trump was the target of a plot to make false claims about Russia. It is clear that the Hillary campaign hired operatives who spread fake information to attack a political opponent.
