Many GOP Senators visited southern borders because of the historical high number of migrants who cross the border.
Ted Cruz (R – Texas) and John Cornyn(R -Tex) led the group of Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn. Joni Ernst (R -IA), James Lankford and John Barrasso were joined by Ron Johnson and John Hoeven (R -ND). They visited the southern border.
Cruz stated that they had been on a midnight patrol along with Border Patrol when they met a group of illegal migrants. Cruz said:
“Encountered a group of illegal aliens. First group was teenagers from Guatamala and Mexico.” The next group was mostly women and children, he said, including two 7-year-old girls who were unaccompanied minors. They weren’t sisters and weren’t brought by relatives. “They’d just gone through a horrific journey with human traffickers.”
Cruz stated that they also met with farmers and ranchers.
“We met with ranchers, farmers who are absolutely furious that they can’t be safe on their own property … What is infuriating is that this is all deliberate. This is a result of deliberate political decisions from Joe Biden and Kamala Harris … In our nation’s history, there’s never been a president engage in a greater dereliction of duty on our border than Joe Biden. He utterly refuses to do his job to enforce the border.”
Cruz didn’t mince words when criticizing the Biden administration over the safety of farmers and ranchers on their property.
Cruz asked Cruz why Democrats hadn’t made it to the southern border.
“Where are the Democrats? … They’re not here because you can’t look at the dead bodies and the children being assaulted, at the chaos, you can’t look at it and defend it.”
Senator Joni Ernst said:
“The men and women of our Border Patrol should be commended for their exemplary service under extraordinary circumstances. No one can visit our Southern border, hear directly from our border officials, and see this historic crisis firsthand and possibly claim that our border is closed.”
Ernst continued to criticize the Biden administration’s inaction regarding the security of the southern border.
“Under President Biden and his administration, our border is open, and the drug cartels are taking full advantage of it. As a mom, I’m appalled by the stories of young girls who have suffered abuse while being trafficked by cartels, and the havoc and heartache created across our communities – in Iowa and throughout the country – because of the amount of lethal drugs flowing across our Southern border.”

The GOP, from Senators to Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, has been urging the Biden administration to address the southern border crisis — thus far, to no avail.
