Cops have a hard job – possibly the hardest job in recent years because whatever they do or don’t do is reviewed and criticized. The good cops have stood by their convictions over the years, accomplishing great things in difficult situations.
Uvalde was an example of gross incompetence, which is likely to have cost many lives. There were numerous “red flags” here that the shooter was a nut. The shooter’s family was aware that he was troubled at best.
Within minutes, cops arrived on the scene.
The cop in charge, Pete Arredondo, the chief of the Uvalde school district’s police, stopped cooperating in the investigation. Why? He was stupid and incapable, which is why he knew it. He didn’t bring a radio with him to a mass shooting. He and his team had only weeks of training for the mass shooting. His incompetence prevented good cops from saving lives and preventing them from getting in, possibly out of cowardice or just plain incompetence.
I’ve only seen one photo of the man. His weight seems to be excessive. No matter what your opinion, Chiefs of Police must be healthy.
Uvalde’s community reacts to the fact that they are unsure if police paid to protect them will do more than just collect their paycheck.
Bottom line: The cops spent over an hour waiting to go in, then a brave parent/border patrol agent did what the Uvalde cops should have done — breach and kill the shooter.
Good cops are everywhere in the United States. Uvalde in Texas seems to have few such cops.
