Did Joe Biden’s Chief of Staff Just Throw Him Under the Bus? – Opinion

Sometimes things can get so bad you need to grab onto everything to try and think positively. That’s apparently where White House Chief of Staff Ronald Klain is.

Klain is a frequent user of social media, and he’s a well-known fan of Jennifer Rubin. He has been known for his retweets of the worst media take. And while he can usually find some form of lavish praise to push, that’s been in short supply lately. That led to this really awkward moment on Monday morning where Klain shared a tweet from the day before proclaiming Biden’s “significant lapse in discipline.”

While I can see what Klain is doing here, the situation is very desperate. Can you imagine Barack Obama’s chief of staff spreading the idea that “Hey, the president really screwed up, but at least he hasn’t started a nuclear war, right?” Heck, would Mark Meadows or Mick Mulvaney have ever said “Trump really lacks discipline,” even after one of his less than helpful moments? Although advisors or staffers can be harsh about their bosses at times, they should not work for those they criticize. Klain may not be long for his job (I predict he gets canned after the November bloodbath), but he’s currently still in it.

It is clear that the White House is currently in dire straits. Klain believes throwing Biden under his bus is the best way Klain could do to strengthen any perceived positives.

Besides, it’s not an effective counter at all. Biden didn’t have a lapse in discipline because he has no discipline. He has had a series of rambling and incoherent episodes throughout his presidency. The president already had made a mistake when he announced that US troops were entering Ukraine. He also suggested that NATO would respond with chemical weapons. It took just two days. Two. Days.

We all wish Biden’s only problem was a rare lack of discipline, but his problems go so much deeper. This is not a man that can be contained because he’s got a toxic mix of arrogance and senility. Certainly, there are times Klain sits up at night wondering how the heck he’s supposed to deal with what comes next. But you don’t want Klain, the presumed leader of the Free World to appear untrained. Klain, however, was happy to admit that fault to help promote an article from CNN. This, gentlemen, is desperate.
