Democrats Hit the Gas as They Approach the Mid-Term Cliff – Opinion

Although the post-mortem reports on the November election will be lengthy, it is easy to see that there are a lot of mistakes made even before the midterm elections, which promises to bring back the Republicans, take place. There is no doubt that Democrats are having a problem with messaging. Some of this can be attributed to their own actions, while others result from the policies they have failed.

Things like inflation, gas prices, foreign policy disasters, and the border crisis can’t be massaged away with lofty language. On that front, there’s little Democrats can do to change the political dynamics. Joe Biden’s party must own its boondoggles, regardless of whether or not they wish to.

But then there’s the messaging that happens by choice. This is an example of this piece by The Washington Post.

In an article I penned on Tuesday morning, I shared the recent results of two focus groups, both of which were made up of not just Biden voters, but Biden’s base voters. There was widespread discontent about the Democrat Party, with a focus on issues that most Americans care about. Inflation, COVID-19 limitations, and crime.

In other words, they weren’t losing sleep over January 6th or Donald Trump having political rallies where people believe the 2020 election was stolen. Yet, Democrats continue to ignore issues people care about. Do not worry about. They obsess about marginal rhetoric, which is not in any way new or harmful at the moment. Normal people obsess about their bank accounts.

It is an enormous messaging gap for Democrats between the electorate and them. They simply aren’t “speaking the language” most Americans are speaking right now. This is important because people who feel neglected are more likely to be restless. This could lead to a depressing turnout in the midterms for Democrats, who were likely going to be beaten before they made such errors.

However, it doesn’t get any worse. It seems that the left is also willing to lose issues such as promoting sexualization of children. I’m sure it feels good to shout and scream on Twitter about Gov. Ron DeSantis is the most popular supporter of Parental Rights in Education. However, polls show that many people are supportive. Add to that the energy crisis, in which Democrats are refusing to lower domestic prices and increase production, and we have a platform for November that angers and alienates most Americans.

Democrats don’t mind stepping on the gas as they approach a mid-term cliff. As a Republican, I’m certainly supportive of that, but as a political onlooker, I can’t help but notice how insane that strategy is. This is a case of hubris. And we all know how pride can lead to disaster.
