The progressive politicians are determined as ever to have as much influence as they can over the people as possible as the pandemic fades. Problem is, people are less trusting the government when it comes down to schools. In an attempt to demonize parents who are angry, the FBI and Department of Justice team up with the National School Board Association to bring down the FBI. This is causing more Americans take a more critical look at school selection. All across America, legislatures are starting to address the matter. In Nebraska, the issue has been in contention since the start of the pandemic, with opinions pretty much split down the typical party lines…except for one man.
The Nebraska senator Justin Wayne (D), who has been vocal in support of school choice over the pandemic, has passionately challenged his fellow party members to get past their hypocrisy. Wayne feels a personal responsibility for education. He is a champion for his school district’s children and the minority students throughout the state. Wayne is like other school choice supporters. He recognizes how poor and minority students are trapped in failing public schools, while being told the endless lie that more money will solve their problems.
Wayne challenged all those who opposed school choice legislation in their district to enroll their children at public schools last year.

I said this earlier, and I want to repeat it cuz it’s just, it’s just a profound thing. There are only two people today who don’t support school choice. Many of these people exercise their choice. This has been a…growing pain for me, as I was against this bill my freshman year and the last three or four years struggled where I was going to be on it. But my community can’t wait anymore. So here’s my offer to all of those people here who have kids. Here’s my offer. This bill will be killed. If you send your kids to one of the kids schools in my district that we’re waiting to turn around… Let’s make that promise, transfer the kids. So as we spend six, seven years at an Elementary School, changing the school, your kid can be part of that change, and when they fall behind, when they don’t have the resources, [when they face]We can then all work through the suspensions together. That’s what I mean by, let’s have a real honest conversation. Don’t make a choice that you won’t allow anybody else to make just based off of income. That’s what we’re talking about.

A Tuesday session of the legislature saw Senator Wayne, almost a full year later, reexamine that unique challenge and ask his colleagues if they had followed his lead. Do you think I should spoil the surprise for you?
I’m going to start off with this. A simple thing that we’ve talked about… a year ago. I challenged everybody in here that if you would send one of your family members to a school or neighborhood school district district, I’d change how I feel about this bill. All of us can join the fight together. It would be great if someone did. Anybody anybody move their kid to Senator McCain’s neighborhood schools or my neighborhood schools? So we can go through the transformational that you keep telling my community to wait for…. Ok, that’s right. Your children should go to private schools.

Wayne wasn’t finished making his colleagues look like idiots. After a heated exchange with an antichoice colleague in District 15, Wayne challenged his colleague to describe what he would tell parents who demand choice and are forced to wait fifty years for public school reform.
He was tragically right in his answer.
Senator Justin Wayne (D),: “Didn’t you think it would take approximately 50 years to fix Omaha?” [schools]?”
Sen. Hansen (D): “Yes”
Wayne: Wayne says, “So how are we going tell parents between now and when they start looking for choices?”
Hansen: Hansen, “I mean, honest, I don’t know.” pic.twitter.com/YWzRXYc41U

The issue of school choice is not partisan. Parents are seeking it now more than ever because they fear the repercussions of teachers unions. Thank you Senator Wayne for representing his constituents. He is needed again in a million.
