Delusional Insanity Flows Like Cheap Wine at House Energy Hearing – Opinion

Capitol Hill got wild this week. While everyone was focused on AG Merrick Garland being exposed by Ted Cruz and Tom Cotton over on the Senate sides, a House committee was busy questioning executives in energy. What followed was delusional insanity that flowed like cheap wine at a mid-level rapper’s house party.

When I say things were nuts, I’m not just exaggerating. This was some of the craziest stuff I’ve ever seen uttered by politicians during a hearing, and I was alive for the Brett Kavanaugh spectacle. RedState’s Mike Miller covered Cori Bush’s bonkers commentary about oil companies being tools of white supremacy. But it was more than this.

Katie Porter had rice in her car to take on the Looney Toons rant over oil and gas leasings.

We can just begin by asking this absurd House member why she isn’t in Washington and asking them these same questions. She’s vaccinated, as is everyone else on the committee as far as I can tell. There is no excuse for her to be appearing via Zoom at this point in the pandemic when she’s paid to show up and do an actual job. If she’s truly worried about her risk from COVID-19, there are some other things she should probably focus on.

Porter, however, is clearly a person who doesn’t understand the details of what Porter speaks. One, I’m not sure what the heck dumping rice out on the ground is supposed to symbolize. Two, she claims that oil and gas leases do not depend on total acreage. They are dependent on the market price of oil and whether drilling is economically feasible. If it’s not, those leases are allowed to lapse. She is nitpicking about oil companies leasing New York City and New Jersey.

That’s what makes the entire thing so ironic. This clip went viral on the left under the guise of Porter supposedly owning the oil executives by showing them that she’s not misinformed. Her entire rant shows that she’s completely ignorant.

Things weren’t done yet, though. Rashida Tlaib went even more twilight zone.

I honestly have no idea what she’s talking about either. I can’t find any reference to her claim. Maybe one of our stalwart “fact-checkers” can look into it?

The thing that I find most interesting about the silly grandstanding of far-left Democrats, is the way they speak all of this while enjoying the fruits of their hatred. Katie Porter wouldn’t be able, without the help of oil companies, to make Zoom appearances or drive her car loaded with rice. Rashida Tlaib uses sound systems and a computer to communicate, both of which are impossible without fossil fuels. I also don’t see either of them stumping for more nuclear power.

Solar and wind power simply aren’t viable on a sufficient scale to provide power for the whole world. These energy sources have numerous drawbacks. These spoiled Washington apparatchiks may not be aware, but ordinary Americans are suffering from high fuel prices due to their policies. This is something that everyone should remember when they go into next year’s election. Are you willing to allow these individuals to run the country?
