Yesterday Dr. Anthony Fauci threw off his mask, and lost any pretense of objectivity as he answered questions about Senator Ted Cruz (R. Texas) asking him to bring him before the Department of Justice. Senators demand that he be investigated by the Department of Justice because he lies about gain-of function research. This topic is well-covered by Scott Hounsell.
Fauci’s response showed what an authoritarian partisan hack he truly is.
He took an ugly false attack on Cruz, rather than trying to justify his actions.
“Yeah. I have to laugh at that,” he deflected. “I should be prosecuted? What happened on Jan. 6, Senator?”
Fauci went on to claim that the people questioning him were “really criticizing science because I represent science.” He claimed they were doing something “dangerous” because it might “damage science.”
“And if you’re attacking me, you’re really attacking science. I mean, everybody knows that,” Fauci claimed.
Really? What is the point of Fauci becoming an unquestioned, inviolate God of Science? Last night I mentioned that his comment does not define science. Science, in essence, is about asking questions and evolving thoughts based upon theories. Not shutting down queries through authoritative dictates. It’s as if he doesn’t even understand that.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) took him to the cleaners and hung him out to dry with his response, chastising him for his “absolute hubris.”
This is the absolute stupidity of someone who claims THEY represent science. It’s astounding and alarming that a public health bureaucrat would even think to claim such a thing, especially one who has worked so hard to ignore the science of natural immunity. https://t.co/rcDezphVRR

“It’s astounding and alarming that a public health bureaucrat would even think to claim such a thing, especially one who has worked so hard to ignore the science of natural immunity,” Paul tweeted. Indeed, it’s dangerous when you have a bureaucrat in such a position, wielding such power, thinking he is unquestionable.
Cruz replied and took Fauci apart. Cruz then eviscerated Fauci, lawyer-like. in five tweets.
Fauci, an unelected technocrat, has deceived science and facts to exert authoritarian control on millions of Americans.
He lives in a liberal world where his smug “I REPRESENT science” attitude is praised.
These are the facts
(1) On May 11, Fauci testified before a Senate Committee that “the NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”
(2) On October 20, NIH wrote they funded an experiment at the Wuhan lab testing if “spike proteins from naturally occurring bat coronaviruses circulating in China were capable of binding to the human ACE2 receptor in a mouse model.” That is gain of function research.
(3) Fauci’s statement and the NIH’s October 20 letter cannot both be true. Both statements are contradictory.
Lies to Congress are a felony punishable with up to five years imprisonment under 18 USC 1001.
Fauci will not be able to get out of the contradiction with ad hominem insults or talking points Democratie.
Fauci either needs to address the substance—in detail, with specific factual corroboration—or DOJ should consider prosecuting him for making false statements to Congress.
No deflection, no “I represent science.” No hiding behind liberal talking points while pretending to be objective. Answer the question.
The bottom line is that for too long, the fate of the country has been put in the hands of unelected bureaucrats like Fauci, who aren’t concerned about the harm they have been doing. They have not been held responsible for their mistakes or required to defend them. They want to continue to play this control game and won’t rule out new lockdowns, even over a new variant that they know very little about.
Fauci is not answering that question that Cruz raised, indeed, he isn’t even acknowledging that Cruz raised it, he’s trying to obscure it with a partisan attack and deflection about how he’s “science.” That tells us everything we need to know right there.
